Wow. Just a completely random move from the Royals, as Dayton Moore grabs a former Brave in the 29 year old Perez (4-4, 6.83 ERA).
Royals Get: Odalis Perez, Blake Johnson and Julio Pimentel
Dodgers Get: Elmer Dessens
I'm not exactly excited about Perez, but this is a good example of a guy having a lower price tag than what he might offer going forward: he's having a horrible year and recently melted down on his own team. I'll take a 29 year old starter with the potential to be average st some point over a 35 year old who probably won't.
The best thing about the deal is that the Royals get three arms for a 35 year old reliever who's having his best year in recent memory. We'll miss you Elmer Dessens. We'll always have memories of "Boyfriend of the Day" honor on July 20th.
As for Blake Johnson and Julio Pimentel, may I admit I've never heard of them? (Sorry I don't follow Dodger farmhands after they folded the Albuquerque Dukes). You can find Johnson's split stats here and Pimentel's here.
Lastly, there's the matter of money, as Odalis is making $8.75 million this season.
More later... Wow, Moore's not wasting time.

UPDATE: As you probably know, the Royals have traded Graffy to the Brewers for Jorge de la Rosa of the Brewers. de la Rosa has an 8.60 ERA in 30 innings this season. For his career he has a 6.23 ERA in 95.1 innings.
Wow again, I can't keep up with Moore these days.
