battle of southwest park way... st.mikes 20- st.andrews-16

dear fearless leader, i would like to present my humble story...

tonite i played my first high school football game, in the great state of texas (its kinda a big deal here). on there first drive we force a punt, we get the ball FUMBLE, they recover inside there own twenty.. goal line stand, take that st.andrews. we get the ball we a force to punt. this goes on for a while then they finally kick a feild goal. 3-0 st.andys.. we then score on a justin kearnz run 6-3, we force a fumble get... it back another touchdown 12-3. then with 30 seconds our middle linebacker makes the most amazing one-handed interception and takes it down the feild.. but we have no kicking game and cant score.

at half st.mikes 12- st.andrews 3

heading in to the second half we get the ball and promptly fumble again(#3) they take advantage and on the next play score. 12-10, ;

;              fourth quarter, this is when legends are made.... we take the ball down and are driving when we throw an interception in our own endzone, the st.andrews player takes all the way back to the 47 yard line, they score several minutes later 16-12... we get the ball back with 1:45 left 15 seconds later... mike macnamara. connects with joey carter, (my boys) for a 60 yard touch down pass.. forty of those yards coming in the air... the emotion after that play was amazing... 20-16... but wait there is 1:30 left on the clock... we scored too soon, they are driving down the feild and with two timeouts but they get inside the 10 with a 15 yard pass 12 seconds left  ..first and goal... 12 seconds left... they try to run an option but jonh walsh (or jwalls) get through the line and holds up the qb just long enough he goes down. 5 4 3 2 offseting penaltys. and a game cannot end on a defense penalty with literally 1 second left they get another chance, they try a pass its batted down by matt roleader (my boy)  CRUSADERS WIN CRUSAERS WIN!!!!!!! it was pretty sweet... willis u know were to contact me for the full version.

never underestimate the heart of a crusader
sounds like St. Micheals needs to iron out some issues... you won't win at Beaumont Kelly or at the non-conference war at Llano with that level of play

This sounds very much like a Texan thing...
But, just to keep up with the football theme...

Dowling Catholic defeated West Des Moines Valley (rated #1 in the state of Iowa) tonight.

oh and oh....

Iowa State beat Toledo in two overtimes last night.   Phew.....that was close.

But, thumbs up to your first football game.... I am glad it was a winner.

um...
go Cougars?

Wow, I'm thinking this is a completely different realm. I'm a Mizzou gal, a BYU gal, and a Jeff City Jay, baby! And apparently I bleed blue, red, AND gold!

Let's see...
Iowa State's colors are cardinal and gold.  Iowa's are black and gold.  Dowling Catholic's are maroon and white...thus the nickname...Maroons

It was 43 here last night.  I need to get back to the warm southern climate of Iowa soon.  But, the smores were good as was the scotch.
