Hochevar on BP

It must be Royals week over at Baseball Prospectus.  They've posted a feature article on a Royal for the second day in a row.  This one's about Luke Hochevar.  There's not a whole lot of new material here, other than some predictibly fawning quotes from Daric Ladnier about Hochevar's talent and makeup, but it's still an interesting read.  I would have liked the article to be more scout-y with projections and stuff--forget it, I'm just nitpicking.  Enjoy!

hope...
.500's not going to happen next year, not playing in the AL Central.  But hope comes in all shapes and sizes, and it's been years since I've checked Wichita box scores every morning before checking KC's box scores.  That counts as hope in my book.  By '08 the Royals should have a seriously imposing lineup with young mashers who know how to get on base.  That said, it's been since Kevin Appier that the Royals developed a good (or even league average, for that matter) major league pitcher, so as much fun as it is to project the futures of guys like Braun, Hochevar, Greinke, Lumsden, et al, it's likely that only one or at best two of these guys will ever be good Major leaguers.  That's how the math works on pitching prospects.  You develop five studs and hope that one or two work out.

Interesting about Clint Hurdle
Bell's successor in Colorado was voted among the 4 worst managers in MLB in a survey of 470 current players.  Bell did not make the list.
