Royals FanFest

So I live in Springfield and I have already made plans to attend the 1st Annual Royals FanFest in January.  It is all very exciting, right?  This is one of the highlights of my winter.  Maybe getting to see current players like Billy Butler, Alex Gordon, Jose Guillen, etc. up close.  Maybe an appearance from Royal legends like George Brett, Frank White, etc.

Tonight, I look at my bookmarked FanFest website and what do I see...

"Players scheduled to appear at the event include: Ryan Braun...Shane Costa...Tyler Lumsden...Mitch Maier...JASON SMITH".  You get the idea.

I died a little inside.  Why don't they just get Dave Chalk and Joe Zdeb in there too?

Who else is attending the LAST Annual Royals FanFest in January?  Maybe I will ask you for your autograph instead.

I'm going
I only want to meet a few of them. I was hoping Billy Butler, Alex Gordon & Jose Guillen would be there too.
7/10 attacks come from the rear.

When is Fan Fest?
Is there an entry fee?  Maybe I can make it.

Who would you most like to have a few minutes with?  I wouldn't mind shaking Trey Hillman's hand.

A few minutes with...
I would love to have a few minutes with Dayton Moore, but only if he'd be open and honest with me.  Of course he wouldn't (and shouldn't) so nix that.

I guess the next one would be Teahen, so I could talk to him about his hitting approach.  Think he'd taking hitting advice from a random lunk-headed fan?

I probably disagree with you.

I'd like to hold Hillman's hand
as we cheerfully galloped across a meadow after a soft spring shower......Oh, sorry. But seriously, what a weak lineup of guys. Jason Smith, Ryan Braun, and Shane Costa? Is this the Omaha Royals fanfest?

yeah, 2 times
He was cool, I mean I didn't really talk to him or anything. ha. I didn't know what to say. Both times were during autograph sessions. But he was nice, with signing & pictures.

Unfortunately
The faces of our future franchise could not be bothered to show up. But, here is the current list off of Royals.com:

Pitcher John Bale, Outfielder David DeJesus, Outfielder Mitch Maier, Pitcher Brian Bannister, Pitcher Brandon Duckworth, Pitcher Neal Musser, Pitcher Ryan Braun, Outfielder Joey Gathright, First Baseman Ryan Shealy, Catcher John Buck, Pitcher Luke Hochevar, Infielder Jason Smith, Pitcher Billy Buckner, Pitcher Luke Hudson, Outfielder Mark Teahen, Outfielder Shane Costa, Pitcher Tyler Lumsden

DeJesus, Buck, Teahen, Bannister, Hochy,
and the "old car jumper" Gator...that will be enough excitement for me.   Throw in Hillfire and GMDM and you have a good one day fest.

I have my reservations and am looking forward to basking in the glow of Royaldom.  If Mother Nature cooperates I will be there proudly wearing my Royalreview Tshirt .

if i were able to go
I'd take a matchbox car with me and ask Gathright if I could get picture of us jumping over it.

Just the first update more players to be announced
When it comes to MLB fanfests, generally the bigger stars are announced later.  Some may not be announced at all and show up.  Griffey was at Reds fanfest last week unannounced.  About the only guys I'd be surprised to see are Soria, Yabuta, and all the other foreign guys.

Where and how much?
There official website doesn't say where it's going to be or how much to attend. Does anyone here know?

by Shooter on Dec 15, 2007 2:14 AM EST reply actions

well
the site used to say that it would be at the Overland Park Convention Center.

I will likely be there
Everyone should wear the Royals Review t-shirts so we can recognize each other.

I don't want to plan on going
and then find out it's $100 a head to get in.

by Shooter on Dec 15, 2007 10:13 PM EST reply actions

I thought somewhere in the press
release it said $18.00 to get in on a first come first serve basis.  The hotel next store is almost full and they said they are expecting a big crowd that weekend.
