Nice to see Eisenreich Get Some Props

Although I never thought he was that good.

He actually played all the way through 1998, which is kinda surprising.

His stats:

I Like Ike!
Eisenreich really wasn't very good in retrospect, but he was one of my favorite Royals as a kid. He was a class act, he handled his Tourette's with grace and dignity, gave the disease attention and gave a human face to it when it had been stereotyped and ridiculed, and was a consummate professional.

I always sat in the right field GA seats, and when he played RF, there was always a great chant of "Who likes Ike?" "I LIKE IKE!"

Good times!

Surprisingly fast
I was always stunned how quick this guy was -- I didn't realize it until I saw him sprint around the bases in person. Godspeed, Jim Eisenreich.

i dont know if it was a condition of TS
or not

but he was one of the most physically awkward pro athletes of all time

everything about how he ran, swung, threw was just strange looking

Eisenrich
He was one of my favorite players growing up as well.  He was a true class act and someone as a kid I could look up too.  It was a nice follow up piece to see what's happened in his life post baseball.

I once sold him a bag of peanuts at a Chiefs game
Naturally, I recognized him and quietly thanked him for his years of hard-nosed play. No, he wasn't great (but he wasn't bad either), but he certainly played the game right. (Ouch - I just sounded like Buddy)

He was sitting innocently amongst the regular crowd; apparently nobody recognized him at all, which is kinda sad (but I'll bet he thought it was OK).

Anyone know?
Does he still live in the area? I know he's from Minnesota originally.

I do not know; however,
the aforementioned peanut sale happened many years after he had retired, so ??? It was in a pre-season game, so baseball was going on - I suppose he could have been in town for any number of reasons, or perhaps he still lived in KC as RoyalsRetro wondered?

According to the MO HOF story...
He does indeed live in the KC area (see link above).

Jimmy Eisenreich...
the first Raul Ibanez, don't underestimate a .290 career hitter, 15 years avg of .290 is amazing!
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Someone should contact him and
get an interview for the Review.  I always liked his "play no matter what" attitude.  I would like to see if he follows the Royals and what he thinks about the newest version.

that would be righteous...
except I'm all about leaving people alone unless they want attention...and I think Jimmy is pretty happy in semi-obscurity
