Cardinal fans--they're worse than I thought

Losing 2 of the 3 to the Evil Empire was bad enough, but what caused me to not sleep at all this morning was the behavior of their self-proclaimed "baseball's best fans" following the game.

Instead of their celebrations, they spent the evening taunting Royals fans.  I was taunted no fewer than 6 times on the way to the parking garage when I had zero desire to talk to anybody.  One person even called me an MFer and there were women and children present.

Somebody on this board two days ago called St. Louis "the armpit of Missouri".  I want to clarify that should refer strictly to the city of St. Louis.  There are decent suburbs, particularly in Jefferson and St. Charles Counties, but the city is a disaster and was ranked last fall as the most violent city in the country.

I used to think the city of St. Louis deserved a team the caliber of the Washington Nationals, but I have come to the conclusion that St. Louis does not deserve MLB at all.  They fleeced the taxpayers of Missouri for an ugly new ballpark and the state slashed $150-$200 million in education spending along with earmarking $12 million of already-short highway funds to pay for the stadium.

Is there any team less deserving of a world championship than the Cardinals?  They have a manager who won't eat meat, but thinks nothing of driving while drunk.  Their pitcher is killed in a drunk driving crash of his causing and his parents sue the innocent driver of a tow truck.  Their lack of class is truly amazing.

If there is any justice, the Cardinals will begin a Cubs-like World Series drought!  We certainly learned this week that they are not baseball's finest!

The most
arrogant, holier than thou, egotistical, my shit don't stink

fans in the world.

They profess to be great fans, but most know little to nothing about other players and teams in baseball. Same for their announcers. Here are some examples from last night's announcers:

Questioned letting Greinke bat. That decision was understandable, if you knew Greinke is actually a decent hitter, that he hit a HR last year, and that he was draftable as a shortstop as well as a pitcher coming out of high school.

Lauded Dave Duncan for going out to talk to Troy Cates when Billy Butler came up. Cates has faced Butler in the minors this year; he probably knew more about Butler than Duncan did!!!

You want to be called the best fans in the game, then take the initiative and actually try to know more than other fans. Same goes for the Cardinal announcers.

I actually like the city of St. Louis
Forest Park, Wash U., Soularde, the Hill all are pleasant areas. But yea, the fans are way annoying at times.

Washington University
is nearly entirely in St. Louis County.  (The city of St. Louis is not part of St. Louis County.  The two separated sometime around 1886.)

Well.....
at least they fill up their stadium. I am still disgusted by watching our home games. As long as we still draw the way we've been, we have no room to talk.

I personally enjoyed
how they booed every time Buddy came out to make a pitching change...like Larussa NEVER does that.

True fans stay to the bitter end....

On a wednesday night?
True fans pack 42,000 into their stadiums on Wednesdays. We can't ge 24,000 on weekends. I'm sorry, but we have no room to talk. I know cards fans are annoying and really aren't that knowledgeable, but we still have no room to talk. We are simply not a baseball town, even though I pray every night that we become one. Football is what Kansas City likes. Baseball is what St. Louis likes. Between all our bickering and differences, this is the main one. That what divides the state of Missouri.

True, but not true
Kansas City may be a football town right now. But, it's for one reason and one reason alone. The Chiefs win just enough for people to care, but we all know that they aren't going any further than the first or (maybe) second round of the playoffs. If the Royals put something (anything) together (think 2003), we'd be a baseball town in no time. Think about it. We all know that with Carl Peterson running the Chiefs, they'll never go to a Super Bowl and Len Dawson and Derrick Thomas have been their biggest stars. George Brett is way (like 5 times) bigger than either of those guys. KC wants to be a baseball town. They just haven't had anything to cheer for on that side of the Truman Sports Complex for a long time. It's coming slowly but surely.

i agree
kansas city is a baseball town. back in 2003 that was proved by how much people talked about the royals. and we finished 83-79. if we had a good a team as st. louis each year we would nearly sell out our park most nights too...

i do disagree about king carl. he can only get them to the playoffs, and while he has made us playoff "contenders" many times when we didnt have a true chance (last year being one of them) but in 1997, 2003 and 93 (it might not have been 93, 94 or 95 maybe?) we had a team good enough to win it all. you cant blame him for that...

Pathetic....
You know I dont care what you think of cardinal fans dont matter to me a bit.For you to be an insensitive jerk as to bring up a guy who died this year is PATHETIC.You know nothing of Josh Hancocks parents motives or why they sued that driver so dont assume to know you make Royals fans look like TRASH.YOUR lack of class jbrocato is truly amazing............................

Hancock
While everybody can certainly empathize with the Hancock family for the tragic loss of a loved one, I don't see how anybody can say the tow truck driver (assuming he had his lights on)was liable in any way whatsoever. What gives the Hancock family the right to inconvenience this guy with a completly frivolous lawsuit, costing him time and money to "defend"? By all means, sue people/companies that might have some liability, but the tow truck driver? Seriously, calhoun, you have to agree that is just asinine.

they really dont have anyone to sue
his blood alcohol was more than twice the legal limit AND he had pot in the car (last report i heard at least). im sorry, how is it anyone elses fault BESIDES his own fault?

nothing bothers me more than frivilous lawsuits and this is the essence of one. he has no case, just the parents dont want to blame themselves for raising him OR their children for a couple of dumb decisions and go on a witch hunt to make it not his fault anymore.

i do agree that it is unfair to talk about it while talking about cards fans, they are mostly unreleated. it wasnt like the cardinals had anything to do with it....

Yeah
And I doubt they will win a lawsuit but all I said was we dont know their reasons. Its still shity to even bring him up total trash to bring up a guy who died.
