Who is Buddy like?

In keeping with the high excitement of a new Harry Potter movie and book coming out within two weeks of each other, I post the question below:  Who is Buddy Bell most like?  I realize that there are other high literary works that could be chosen (I will let those types think about which would work better - something from Charles Dickens comes to mind....)

Hahahaha
Good question...

Buddy is most like Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic --- Inept, slow, and unwilling to do the things that will most protect the team in the future, as well as make them self sufficient when it is their turn to be on top of the AL Central pile.

If I were Buddy, our lineup would look like this EVERYDAY:

  1. Gator (CF)
  2. DeJesus (LF)
  3. Gordon (3B)
  4. Butler (DH)
  5. Teahen (RF)
  6. Brazell (1B)
  7. Buck (C)
  8. Pena (SS)
  9. German/Grudz (2B)
SP - Meche
SP - Bannister
SP - Greinke
SP - De La Rosa
SP - Nunez

RP - Musser
RP - Braun
RP - Soria
RP - Riske
RP - Dotel
RP - Gobble
RP - Peralta

why would you throw out the same lineup every day?
its not necessarily bad, but its not good either. your lineup is good, but i think grienke should stay in the pen. i think he is more suited to be our longterm closer, we cant just force him into the rotation.

Sorry....
I dind't literally mean every day.... It would shift of course, due to LHP or RHP, as well as defensive analysis of other teams, but I think a lot of chemsitry is built off of knowing where you are in the lineup. This would be my lineup 60-75% of the time depending on opponents in the league.

Yes, my alternate rotation/bullpen has Soria/Greinke is swapped locations... I have just been waiting for Greinke to win 20 since '03. I'm a little pissed. I also think 50 saves is inside the realm of likelihood for Greinke.

Greinke power!!!

Damn!
You are tempting me to read all of these books and watch all of the movies just so I can answer the poll intelligently.

Can't do it - a man can only devote himself to so many things at once in life - and Harry Potter misses the cut for me.

I know, I know - it's good stuff, and my loss, blah blah blah.

What seals it for me is that loyal2s Mom is a HUGE fan, and considering how different our tastes are in nearly everything else, I can't imagine I'd feel the same...

oh and to answer the question
without a doubt ron weasley to GMDM's harry potter. not nearly as talented or smart, but his best friend and he might stay in town because of it.

Professor Quirinus Quirrell
To be honest I haven't read the books and I only remeber this guy from the movie but I think he's a perfect fit for Buddy Bell.  He's the guy who was the defense against the dark arts professor in the first movie who had the sould of teh bad guy stuck to the back of his head.  Quirrell was supposed to be some genius but kept making questionable decisions due to the evil soul he was stuck with.  A bit like BB's "by the book" managerial decisions that are only by the book on the surface but when they are examined closely leave many real baseball men scratching their heads.

Perfect
Quirrell it is.
Being a fan is irrational, but what is the alternative?

Here's a vote for
LaRussa = Hermione Granger

LaRussa
no, he's smarter than Hermione

so who does Loyal2's Mom vote for, for an informed vote from that household?

by buddyball on Jul 17, 2007 3:46 PM EDT reply actions

Loyal2s Mom
wouldn't know Buddy Bell from Buddy Hackett - so I don't think she could offer an informed vote...
