Dotel Update

well, it isnt really much of an update. however, according to bob dutton of the kc star, seattle has joined in on the dotel hunt. supposedly, there is a possibility that they would trade one of their top prospects, wladimir balentien (sp?) for him. here is a discussion regarding the trade on minor league ball, which has some mariners fans praying the deal WONT go down and some royals fans praying it DOES. one idea thrown out there is combining odie and dotel to get wladimir, something i would definately do even if we pay both salaries.

to add fuel to the fire, balentien sat out todays game, which likely means nothing but could, possibly, mean a deal is close to being completed. i am really just dreaming here, as i would die to have balentein. he is the power hitting corner OFer we have been needing, and might be ready to play LF everyday starting next year. then we can have lubanski as the 4th OFer, gator/maier as the 5th and trade the leftover.

here are balentien's stats:

AVG    G    AB    R    H    2B    3B    HR    RBI    TB    BB    SO    SB    CS    OBP    SLG    OPS
.306    102    395    71    121    21    4    23    74    219    47    86    14    3    .379    .554    .933

dont get me wrong, i wouldnt mind getting franklin gutierrez (sp?) from the indians or chin lung hu/tony abreu from the dodgers, but balentien is at the top of my list right now.

here is my list, in order of who i want most for dotel:

  1. balentien
  2. gutierrez
  3. abreu
  4. hu
  5. ben fransisco (cleveland)
