Former Braves

We all know Dayton Moore's penchant for acquiring personnel from his former organization. I haven't weighed in yet, but let me just say I am wholly in favor - we have come a long way in terms of respect, professionalism, etc., and I think importing these guys has a great deal to do with that. Along those lines, here's my first suggestion of possible candidates to replace Buddy:

Some of you have probably seen this, but I figured it had to be done.

Never heard of this guy
but that video is highly entertaining.  Would that work in the Majors?  Well maybe he'd have to trim it to just throwing dirt on the plate, and skip throwing the bases.  Definitely, he's got some enthusiasm.

Must be careful
There is a thin line between Moore being able to identify guys with talent from the Braves organization (players and coaches) and ASSUMING that because they were in Atlanta that they have talent. Naturally, Moore probably thought most people he hired/drafted had talent, so in some cases his judgement could be impaired a bit.

Moore's best moves have been the ones outside the Atlanta organization. Meche, Bannister, Soria and De La Rosa are the most significant improvements to this team and all came from the collaboration of Moore with the Royal's scouts, not Moore's relationship to Atlanta. Pena is the only improvement gained from the Atlanta connection, and there are still a lot of questions about the significance of that improvement.

I'd like to see Moore strike out on his own (poor word choice) rather than stay too close to the coattails of John Shuerholz. I'd like to see a lot of new ideas from more "small market" organizations brought in to fill out the expertise beyond the successes in Atlanta. A lot of good things are happening in Oakland, Minnesota, Milwaukee, San Diego, etc.

As Moore continues to grow and find
success in the major leagues, the ties to Atlanta will lessen.  He'll become less familiar with the Braves system and establish himself.  Right now, I don't have a problem with KC modeling itself after the Braves.  Atlanta did the same thing when Scherholz left KC to take over a pathetic Braves organization.

Just a comment on Pena.  Having him at SS has been a huge improvement over Berroa.  Regarding the stats, they might not be that different but the huge factor is attitude and willingness to improve.  Just look at the lack of complaining we have seen on the Royals Review without "the Devil" at KC.  For me, seeing the Royals make the statement that they won't put up with the Berroa type of performance is a huge upgrade.  Too many years with Berroa making mental errors, making same stupid mistakes and regressing as a big leaguer.  Putting up with that stuff is worse than the performance itself.

So in effect the Royals
are really just modeling themselves after the Royals of the early 80's late 70's.  I see no problem with that.  I also see no problem in bringing in people the Braves have no use for or have given up on.  Once Moore grows he will simply take this plan and apply it to other teams.  He seems to have done this already with Bannister and Gator so I think he is moving in the right direction. I also agree with you on Pena.

Yeah...
I think that the new Royals are modeled after the Braves who were modeled after those Royals teams for obvious reasons.

Everyone Who Changes Jobs
Tries to bring something of their old job with them at first. Eventually, a good employee will relegate this to the appropriate level, but most overdo it at first. I think we can afford to take some of ATL's table scraps now, but I don't want to see much if any of this next year and beyond. If GMDM can approximate the '75-'85 Royals, with more power and less base stealing, I'll be ecstatic. He's made a good start on the pitching.
Being a fan is irrational, but what is the alternative?
