You all know my stance on Buddy Bell--I think he's a below average manager who's a bit old-fashioned, but I thought I'd link this article on mlb.com about Bell stepping down in two days. I worry a little about the part that says he'll stay on in advisory role to Dayton Moore, but on the positive side I think the writer does do a good job of highlighting the good side of Bell. While it's a little intangibly, I think it's nice to see that Bell has fought his way through his cancer scare to remain a family man.
The title of this diary comes from one of my favorite comics, "Pearls Before Swine." I chose it because I think Bell comes off as a perfectly okay guy, he's just not a good baseball manager. Not that Bell has distuingished himself particularly well in his job, but I wish him luck for the future as long he stays away from Gil Meche.
