We're alive!

If you play the rest of the season a million times, the Royals win the division three times!

p.s. I have no idea how the overall Playoff odds (Division OR WC) can be lower than JUST winning the division...

royals review is dead
it must be football season

by FlintHillsRoyal on Sep 3, 2007 5:13 PM EDT reply actions

dead... I don't think so.
Tonight we go for a win that will end the 100 game losing season streak.  It may not be much of a goal.  To me this will mean that we have had a successful year and everyother win until the end of the season will be icing on the cake.

RR may be a little quieter but never ever dead.

GO BLUE...

GO ROYALS....

Not dead
As the Royals play out the string and the NFL and college football seasons start, it is expected that there will be somewhat less traffic on this site.  But the site is still very active with many Royals fans still very interested in the daily goings on of the KC Royals.

That's funny
I checked yesterday before the win and it was 0 percent.  That was an important win yesterday.

Division champ odds are lower than playoff odds
Because of the Yankees and the Mariners (most importantly)--the larger field of better teams means that our best chance of success is winning our suddenly weakest (at the top) division in the AL.  We have no chance at the wild card because we have to compete against numerically more better teams.

As for the playoff odds, again, you have to figure in the odds of being the champs of the division AND the odds of being the wild card.  As there is are lower odds of being the wild card, it would make our overall odds of making the playoffs lower.

Is this simply the silliest conversation for the fans of a 4th place team to be having?

No, But Superman
Versus Godzilla and Mothra hasn't come up yet.

I say Godzilla
Superman may be stronger, but that laser vision is no match for Gojira's breath weapon.  Mothra is a non-factor.

But that point is
that Playoff odds should equal Division Champ Odds + Wildcard Odds.  3 + 0 should not equal 2.  If they win the division 3 times then they should make the playoffs 3 times.  I guess our odds of winning the wild card are actually -1 out of a million.

Maybe the percentages are actually more accurate than shown and it's just a rounding problem.

Not all that silly -
because I think last year we were down to zero odds WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY earlier than this year. Another sign (albeit a small one) of the tremendous progress made this season.
