Joe McEwing

Joe McEwing has apparently retired.

Star-divide

It's a sad day for our game. The heralded 'Joe McEwing Era' of baseball has apparently come to a silent but deadly end. There's little doubt in my mind that this would be headling sports shows around the nation. However, Randy Moss (allegedly) and Pacman Jones can't stop punching women, Colts fans can't stop booing 14 year-old girls, Philip Rivers can't stop being a douchebag and Roger Clemens can't stop not getting any respect and being pissed about it.

I shed a tear, although I can't even really remember anything specific He did for the team when He was here.  In fact, the only thing I can think of is Bob Davis saying "hey, there's Joe McEwing...  at first...," as though the Notorious B.O.B. couldn't even think of anything of note McEwing has ever done.

Who do you think will be the next Royal-of-Great-Significance to retire?

Oh where hast thou gone
Desi Relaford? Nice guy who just can't find a job. You get the bait, I got the poles. We'll pick up some beer on the way to the pond, Desi.

I have a friend
Who knows Desi Relaford. Says the guy was real smart with his investments and now owns a fairly successful recording company.

Our HOF
middle infield of 2004 (Joe McEwing and Denny Hocking), can only be a memory now?  How sad.

Our pitchers will go first
Has Albie Lopez officially announced his retirement yet? Curt Leskanic? Joe Mays?

Of course, long after Michael Moustakas is retired and enshrined in the Hall of Fame, there will still be one former Royal from this era actively seeking work. Somewhere, it will be Lima time.

bako, elarton, lima
unless they've already retired.   (and actually, didn't bako already get an extension somewhere?)

Mike DiFelice
Has to be close to hanging it up.

Sox have picked up many former Royals
Buddy Bell - Director of Minor League Instruction

Joe McEwing - AAA hitting instructor

Andy Sisco - AAA pitcher

Mike MacDougal -  AAA/MLB reliever

Ryan Bukvich - AAA/MLB reliever

Paul Phillips - NRI

D.J. Carrasco - NRI

I probably disagree with you.

and now Octavio Blowtel
I wonder if they'll use him as a closer. If memory serves, he had three save ops at atlanta and blew  two of them. I'd love to see him blow a couple of saves against the Royals this year.

It is still a rumor so far
The deal has been denied by both the Sox and Dotel's agent.  But they are talking.  Hard to say how close they are.  But if they sign him, he'll be a setup man for Jenks...until he goes on the DL.
I probably disagree with you.
