. Baseball America at one point named him the top catcher in A ball.
Didn’t know he was almost sold to Japan. It must have been depressing to Raul to put up pretty good numbers, but not get much of an opportunity. But there are probably dozens, if not hundreds of players throughout the years you could say that about.

but in your tribute to Ibanez, you seemed fairly mocking. Did I misunderstand it? I need to read it again. I mean, he wasn’t a star, but he was pretty good… still is, although I don’t think the Royals should go nuts trying to sign him NOW. If they must, offering something like 2/13, or 1/8.5 with a club option sounds about right. (He’ll get more than that from someone else, I bet).

yea, it was fairly mocking i suppose
or mocking his seemingly random career spike or the state of a franchise that made him seem notable or something… hard to say
in retrospect, raul’s breakout isn’t so surprising, as he was a guy who produced in the minors but seemed to have a hard time breaking in
steroids!!!1111
