Remember when Chad Durbin was on the Royals? The 1996 3rd round pick was a proud member of the turn-of-the-century boys in blue (99-02) and is 39th in team history in games started (47).
Apparently he's on the Phillies now. Expect a "Honoring Chad Durbin" post at some point this winter...

he could have been one of the greatest 100 royals of all time
instead, he’s relegated to the dustbin of history
Bwah ha ha ha!!!

Durbin should serve forever as a not so gentle reminder of the potential consequences of ignoring pitch counts.
Absolutely criminal.
Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!
Hopefully, we can
get to root for Matt Stairs at DH tonight?
Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!
Maybe he can ask Tom Gordon what it was like before the Royals were terrible
Love TG, but how on earth is that dude still playing?
Yeah, I Was
Even young when he broke in as a starter.

This must be the "push loyal2sdad's buttons post"
Royals saw Tom Gordon, realized that he had a plus FB and a plus-plus curve, and decided he needed a changeup to become a starter.
As soon as he was gone from KC, another (smarter) team decided, “heh, a plus pitch and a plus-plus pitch? Screw the rotation – this guy looks like a potentially effective starter”
Sigh
Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!
Oops
obviously, that should redad “…like a potentially effective closer”
(Wondering if devilfingers typing skills are rubbing off on me…)

He Was A
Very effective starter when he kept his 90 MPH heat at the knees and on the corners, but who isn’t? His curve was unhittable.

We're past that though
right? As a society, we’re past all those 120+ pitch outings on consecutive starts, right?
Poor Mark Prior though…

Very Impressive SSB
Rendition by Los Lonely Boys; I didn’t know they had that in them. The first time I heard “Heaven” I came in during the guitar solo; it was like I was listening to myself. We definitely listened to a lot of the same stuff when we were learning (particularly Dickie Betts).

Howard with the 7 out save
nice work. i guess you can do that when you have basically starters in the bullpen.
we need to either train soria to pitch more than one inning or just be a starter.
At least Wally Joyner's not on the team....
