Royals Swing First, Take Pitches Infrequently
Fangraphs has a new article up on ranking teams by plate discipline, finding a strong correlation between a team's philosophy toward statistical analysis and the rate at which its players chase pitches out of the strike zone. The Royals finished 26th with German and Callaspo not playing enough to offset Pena and Olivo.

Vlad
singlehandedly puts the Angels in last…but I thought he was good??
We always did feel the same, We just saw it from a different point of view, Tangled up in blue.

I think this means
that rather than changing the team philosophy, the Royals just need to teach Pena and Olivo how to be as good as Vlad.
SImple.

The evidence of Moore's poor O-building skills, thus far...
…keeps piling up. Emphasize “thus far” in the subject. I hope Moore can pick up the pieces and move on. I really think hitting coaches and managers (upper-minors and MLB) have little to do with our poor approach at the plate. Given our lack of power, we absolutely need to be more patient. Part of that requires new hitters, and ahem a little more emphasis on a sabermetric approach.
