Official: Royals acquire 1B Mike Jacobs for P Leo Nunez
Jacobs, who turned 28 on Thursday, should answer the Royals' need for a proven power hitter. He had career highs of 32 home runs and 93 RBIs for the Marlins last season. A left-handed hitter, he batted .247 and had an on-base percentage of .299....
The Marlins see Nunez as a late-inning setup man or perhaps a closer candidate down the line.
Jacobs, is eligible for arbitration for the first time, and his salary is expected to rise to roughly $3.5 million in 2009.

Cheers, Leo
It has been fun, when you were weren’t injured…
Still am not a fan of this trade. I think we have since seen the last of either Shealy or Butler in a Royals uniform, which I think may end up being the worst consequence. Nunez was good when he was healthy, but GMDM has shown he knows how to build an effective bullpen on the cheap, so I’m not too worried there.
If pitching is the currency of baseball, though, I think we just got ripped off a little.

Agreed that Butler is a goner
My only hope is we can pull a Matt Garza-type trade for him. I’ve heard Jeff Clement’s name mentioned, but I have no idea whether that’s a plausible (or even a good trade for us).

Even though we don't need a 1B type GREAT TRADE
I like this trade because we’re selling high on Nunez who is an injury question. His body type always makes him a question mark.
Does this trade bring in some leadership on this team?

This also opens the door in the bullpen for someone else...

are you sure Butler is gone?
doesn’t this open the door for him to play first? he has to have a better glove than Jacobs.
I think that Shealy and Kila are the most affected.

He seems to be the one who GMDM wants to pressure the most...

I like the trade
Nunez was fine, but not great, when he was actually healthy, which wasn’t that often. GMDM has proven able to put together a bullpen, and we needed someone with power. Jacobs has shown that ability, which Butler, Shealy, Gload, and Kila have not. So what’s the issue? Kila stays in the minors, DH or trade Butler, and see what you can get for Shealy and or Gload (I’m guessing not much).
