Trey, what Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?

And what newspapers do you read?

Ask him why Gordon hit in the bottom half of the order for second half of the season

when he was the best hitter on the team against righties all year, and the best hitter on the team in the second half (excluding second-half callups). And don’t take “he looked more comfortable to be” as an answer.

I submitted my question about 2 seconds before your response

But two or more can’t hurt, correct?

I tried to extract a Ross Gload-like answer from him. I asked him what roles the incumbent first basemen will play next year.

yeah...

I’m going nuts trying to take apart a faucet here… probably should get back to work…

another question:

what “stats” exactly, does he look at? VORP? BRAA? WXRL? OPS? OPS+? Batting Average? Gload Appearance/Fan Unrest Ratio?

How much should we read into this:

“[Shealy] has certainly excelerated [sic] his value in being a strong consideration for a Major League team in 2009.”

“A” major league team? Not the Royals necessarily?

Biggest challenge of being a manager

What he said: “Managing personalities and mannerisms”

What he meant: “Jose Guillen”

Oh, happy day!

Here is my question! (I’m jdmasta289)

Edit....Oh, they picked the wrong time...

…I was hoping to ask the first question, which is why I logged in early. He already answered this question. (I submitted two, actually).

Trey says we need to improve OBA understanding among hitters

Until we can acquire players with more slug.

Also talks about a “holistic” approach from the top down organizationally to improve walk rates among hitters.

Shealy, Kila, and Billy

…project far beyond Gload’s offensive slug, however, Gload possesses the best defensive skill set. We will massage that through Spring Training.

So….no more Ross Gload?

Ha! My question got in

And Trey

Seems to be completely against Soria moving to the rotation. Boo!

So is Dick Kaegel.l Two dumbasses made for each other

What was your question?

Posnanski’s article about the Gloaden Rule comes in here — managers hate uncertainty. Gload gives you the same sub-replavement level performance every night. Soria “saves” wins those 40 times you need him to. Sure, Ryan Shealy might hit 15 homers, but Ross Gload might (if every defensive metric out there is bullshit) be a game better than him on defense. Sure, Soria’s would be 2-4 games better over a season if he started, but the fans would throw a fit, because God forbid someone point out that Ramon Ramirez threw more innings of a higher quality to Soria.

I asked

“What are your thoughts on moving Soria to the rotation? He is a great closer, but 200 innings seems more useful than 70 innings. Oh, and don’t you hate pants????”

Kaegel pisses me off

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is one of those popular cliches that dumbasses lazy people bring up when they don’t really want to think about the issue at hand.

Does he realize that

under .500 baseball should be considered “broke”?

by BrRoyal on Oct 8, 2008 8:44 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Mahay, Ramirez, and Nunez

…..Would each implode as closers, posting 11+ ERA’s and suffering aneurysms due to severe neck jerking after surrendering home run after double after home run.

….I’m joking, but sadly, that comment is only about 95% true, given the number of fantastic set-up men who have faltered enormously as closer.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” = Years of economic prosperity, followed by many years of this current economic disaster.

By the way...

Devil Fingers, I love your fighting spirit. Your attitude is perfect for blogs like these.

Truthfully, as fans, we probably need to step up and make our voice heard. We obviously have the upper hand on modern statistical analysis….not playing Ross Gload, challenging the bullshit aspects of conventional baseball wisdom, etc. Viva La Revolucion for ’09? I say designate a thread for the front page and e-mail every media outlet we can for every Gload start next season (or using pitchers like Tomko in crucial situations, etc.). OK, I digress mucho.

by Royals Nation on Oct 7, 2008 5:49 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I usually try stay calm and "jokey"

but I was stressed today.

If Hillman commands the respect of the locker room and doesn’t get the pitchers hurt, that’s fine enough.

I just hope DMGM continues to shows the imagination and foresight he did with the Meche signing, the Ramirez, Soria, and Callaspo acquistions, acquiring Ho-Ram for free and turning him into a spec prospect and so on, and continues to show the flexibility he did in letting one of Baird’s $1000 boys (Aviles) take over for one of his.

His long-term improvements are the right thing, “safe” moves like keeping Soria in the ‘pen, sticking with Gload, and quasi-win now desparation signings “just to make a move” like signing Guillen because the other guys couldn’t be got are not.

I’ve been intent on asking that all season, but dammit, now I’ve missed my chance.
