Looks like Ducky is coming back as pretty much pure organizational depth. The article mentions that we now have 38 players on the 40-man roster. Did we have more before?

we had 39

Ducky was then outrighted to Omaha and that makes 38. He’s pulling in a niiiiiiiiiiice paycheck too…300k prorated for his time in Omaha, 600k prorated for his time in KC. Think I saw that on ESPN website.

It is nice depth though. Nice guy to have as a #6 starter if injury strikes. Can come up and not look bad, prevents a youngster from potentially being called up too early also.

Disagree

IMHO, I think he’s the type of guy that we need for org. depth.

I hereby resign from this post.

IMHO, the Royals could have had him for a minor league contract

It’s not like anyone else would have given him a major league contract.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

And just on what world is Ducky on the 40-man

Not this one, that’s for sure.

For all we know, he is making above the minimum

He made nearly double the minimum last year ($600k). And Cots says that his service time makes him short of FA eligibility, which means the Royals would have to offer him at least 80% of his 2008 salary, which is $480K.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Ducky will pitch for the Royals in 2009.

He is way up in the depth chart for next season compared to last season.

Go Royals!
