Nationals as a trade partner
With the Nationals getting Olsen and Willingham they now have quite a few guys for 3 OF positions. I would be interested in seeing if they would deal Dukes, Milledge, or Pena. Thoughts?

My guess is
Willingham will play 1B. Milledge will play CF. Dukes, Pena, Kearns and Harris are all probably not starters, so they’ll share time. Harris could actually spend a lot of time at 2B.
Supposedly they want to get a true CF and move Milledge to the corner though. Maybe we could take a flyer on Kearns if they eat the money or allow us to move Guillen. Isn’t Kearns a plus defender? I don’t think I’d want Pena (impending FA) or Dukes (worst character in baseball).

I have to admit that although this probably just makes me another person Nostaglic for Our National Innocence, I’m not sure I’m ready for the Royals to have a guy that makes Brett Myers and Pacman Jones look like Mike Sweeney and David Dejesus.
You mentioned Kearns earlier, Retro, as a possible salary dump switch with Guillen. I like that idea. Kearns doesn’t really hit anymore, but every stat I’ve seen has him as a plus defender. He’s not ancient, and his contract isn’t that big…

I read Bowden sees Willingham as a LF. So yes, there would appear to be a logjam in the outfield, particularly if they go after ManRam as some rumors suggest.

Willingham is, at most 1.5 wins worse than ManRam

Had a roomie who ended up playing with
Milledge. Said he hates the guy. Lol. THUG city was his description. (he’s a hard core country boy so that didn’t help)
Just thought I’d pipe that in. We don’t want any of them… worst attitude in baseball… other than MB.
