Crossing the Finish Line: Royals 2008 1B defense by PMR

+

Concluding a series of FanShots following David Pinto's 2008 defensive rankings according to his Probabilistic Model of Range, here are the 2008 results for first base that might be of interest to readers here. The Royals, probably due to playing time wasted on Billy Butler, finished 26th out of 32 teams at about 12 plays, or ~9.5 runs below expected. What about the Royals qualfied individuals? Certainly this will show on the individual rankings. Ross Gload clocks in at minus 8.75 plays, or about minus 7 runs. Well, he's getting old, I guess... Need some new blood. How about that new guy who everyone is so excited about because complainers don't realize that "better than Gload" is the new gold standard? Hmm... these rankings must be in reverse order. Yeah, that's it. Mike Jacobs comes in at "first" with minus 19.95 plays, or about minus 16 runs.
