TEN (10)

These are the ten managers that have responded to my email regarding the Royals Review Fantasy Baseball Keeper League.  To the other six managers from the 2008 season, you have until December 15th to list your keepers.  If you do not list by that date then your team will be considered an orphan team and your players will be listed as free agents.

I am thinking that March 21, 2009 at 8:00 pm would be a good time to hold our next draft.  Do I hear any comments on that date and time?

The following are the teams or managers that have listed keepers for the 2009 season:

RR keeper teams signed up for 2009 :

RaefzillaHamFighters 175-109-24 .607 - 9-5-0 15 124
NYRoyal 155-117-36 .562 14 5-9-0 16 134
thedude925=awesome 150-118-40 .552 17 9-4-1 8 38
stuckinstl12 161-122-25 .563 13.5 4-9-1 11 27
Randa4Life 144-132-32 .519 27 - 5 6
Hoch 146-133-29 .521 26.5 - 10 51
Sisquatch Kids 137-127-44 .516 28 5-9-0 4 19
Grudz's Bar & Grill 126-152-30 .458 46 - 9 48
gordonrules 119-145-44 .458 46 - 6 35
Matty486 119-149-40 .451 48 - 3 24

Any comments on the above league should be made below:

Happy Holidays ....everyone...

Do we really want to make them free agents?

Wouldn’t that put whoever took over their team at a huge disadvantage? You should either let the new manager decide the keepers or let the new managers have an expansion draft for 6 rounds before the regular draft.

by raefzilla on Nov 23, 2008 1:44 AM EST   0 recs

i say

let them play catch up. Dynasties are built over decades of toiling, not gifted overnight!

Accidentally not thedude925 anymore. I do hate this new name.

by wildthang on Nov 23, 2008 4:32 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

Punish the newcomers!

If they want to join our league, we should make them beg for it, and their first draft pick has to be one of:

Ross Gload
Joey Gathright
Tony Pena
Brett Tomko

(all goofiness aside, maybe it would be best for newcomers to be randomly assigned existing teams)

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Are you going to win the football league this year?

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Not if I can help it...

So much for taking Jackson with the 3rd pick of the draft.

Bo Jackson?

No, Stephen...

But, come to think about it Bo could probably do better than Stephen has done this year.

I should win the FB league!

Damn it! Goes to figure, that of my 3 leagues, this is by far my best team, when there is nothing on the line but Royals Review pride (not to discredit that). And it goes to show you never know about your team on draft day. I thought my team was wretched.

Didn’t I get shit for drafting Brees so high?

by GoBabies!! on Dec 1, 2008 12:21 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

And I think

my propensity in the FB league should move me to the front of the line if new managers are needed.

Well, that and the fact that I offered first :-p

do you still have the rule that you must have at least

one Royal activated on your team?

by devil_fingers on Nov 26, 2008 1:40 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

It is exceptionally deep

16 teams and 20 roster spots (plus 5 bench spots). This is not one of those leagues where everyone you start is an all-star caliber player. This league takes some work.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Nov 26, 2008 10:56 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

13 and counting...

I now have keepers for 13 teams and I have heard from M J Marbot that he will have his soon. Four other RR’s have said they would like to have a team. The questions is do we want to expand the league from 16 to 18 or 20 teams? Let me hear ya?

by grudz96 on Nov 26, 2008 6:13 PM EST   0 recs

I wouldn’t mind expanding the league, but there just isn’t enough talent to go around. If the new teams are created by drafting the available non-keepers, they are going to be screwed. It will be almost impossible for them to even get to the playoffs.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Nov 29, 2008 1:28 AM EST to parent up   0 recs

expansion draft!

I hope I can get in so I can try to make it on “scrubs” like Derek Lee and Jeremy Bonderman.

If Yahoo had an option where “expansion teams” got an extra draft pick per round, that would be more fair. But I doubt such option exists. Oh well, I guess we can add teams as long as the guys playing know they are at a significant disadvantage. But I’d hate for new teams to be added, and then have those guys realize a couple weeks or months into the season that they have no chance because they couldn’t draft the best players and then abandon their teams. Nothing is worse for a fantasy league than ghost teams.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Nov 29, 2008 11:27 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

yeah, even in my pay league we have people who do that

although they get kicked out after the season, if they don’t heed a warning from our poor Comissioner. We also are instituting harsher punishments for teams that don’t meet their minimums — lose a keeper.

Emails went out to all managers via Yahoo Sports.

So, if you want in… post your keepers….here.

by grudz96 on Dec 1, 2008 5:05 PM EST to parent up   0 recs

well, Yahoo sports

apparently has a boycott on estrogen because I got nooooothing.

As for my keepers….I will get back to that soon…ish. :)
