Rule 5 Draft eligible Pitchers
Eric Cordier is available in the Rule 5 draft. Do the Royals redeem the Tony Pena trade by re-acquiring Cordier?

I love me some Veal
If he’s still there at 11, do it. I think he’ll be gone. It is possible that the Royals might do a trade for him — that is fairly common for the Rule 5 draft.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
Reports are we are scouting him
Seems to have command issues, but perhaps McClure can work magic on his mechanics. Certainly seems to have a live arm.

And the Royals can afford to use/waste the #7 bullpen spot on him
If a team is still rebuilding and has its heart set on a 12-man pitching staff, then you might as well use that last bullpen spot on Rule 5 pick, if you can find one who appears to have significant upside potential.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I think the Royals should trade Cordier for Pena

I meant Pena for Cordier - thinking too much about turkey and gravy...

Eduardo Morlan
Seems to be the perfect kinda guy DM would put in his pen, but I rather doubt he’ll still be available when the Royals draft.

Kei Igawa
Is sure to be picked by us no?
I think it might be a pretty crafty move actually (assuming his contract # isn’t large…)
4M per year
Don’t think it’s worth it.
Then again, if he sucks you can always send him back to the Yankees. If he somehow managed to be a decent #4/#5, then he’s well worth the money. After saying this, it might not be such a bad idea.

I think you can offer him back
to the Yankees. They don’t have to take him.
I think it's worth the risk personally
Yea, $4m a year is a little steep, but it has been mentioned that his biggest problem was dealing with the big market of NY. Can’t get muh more of a contrast than KC. Plus Trey couldn’t hurt.
Remember, there were more than a few scouts that thought he was better than Dice-K that year.
I wouldn't pay $4M per year for him as a FA
…so why pick him up for that amount in the Rule 5 draft. You can get relievers better than him on the FA market for that money, or less. $4M is still a good deal of money for a reliever. There’s no reason to pick up that kind of contract to a pitcher who has only been awful in the majors.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

When?
When will we find out if we actually took a player?
Interesting Rule 5 fact....
This may be my question to Stump the Chumps next week….
“In 1988, the Braves drafted a player from themselves. They neglected to protect righthander Ben Rivera on the 40-man roster, had the first pick in the draft and took him.”
