KC ROYALS JUST 15 WINS AWAY! THAT'S IT

The KC Royals will shock the sports world this upcoming baseball season. Just like the Rays of 2008, the Royals will be the talk of Baseball in 09! With a couple of more moves, the Royals will be contenders and ALIVE IN 09!

Star-divide

The Royals have the potential of an everyday line-up that will compete against anyone in the league.

They have the core players to make a serious run.  Aviles, Gordon, DeJesus, Butler make up the young talent they can build around and win with. Last year's signing of Guillen was huge and showed baseball the Royals want to win. The early off season additions of Crisp and Jacob will make the Royals contenders. I believe  signing a couple of PBs will help KC win 90 games.

Pat Burrell & Paul Bryd. Burrell can be the team's DH and play some left field. Paul Bryd has a career lifetime record of 34-10 against the Central. (omitting the Royals) I believe that adding both of these veterans will be helpful to a young team and will help KC win 90 games. Imagine this line up.

CF CRISP       (WANTS TO STEAL 40 BAES)

SS AVILES      (.325 BA)

LF DEJESUS   (BEST HITTER IN MLB W/ RUNNERS IN SCORING  POSITION)

RF GUILLEN    (POWER NUMBERS WILL IMPROVE WITH PROTECTION)

3B JACOBS      (GREAT ADDITION, LEFT HANDED POWER STICK)

DH BURRELL   (WILL HELP DRIVE IN MORE RUNS! CHAMPION ON TEAM)

2B GORDON      (NEEDS TO MOVE TO 2B; WEAK HANDS AT 3B; SOLID STICK)

1B BUTLER       (MAYBE PLATOON WITH Ka'KAILUE)

C OLIVO              (WILL BE CLUTCH PERFORMER)

90 WINS WILL WIN THE WEST!

That's just 15 more wins than last season.

That's all it will take to dethrown the Sox.

That's what it will take to make the Royals the Kings of the Central.

THAT'S IT!

Too Optimistic

Too optimistic and unrealistic. Defensively it would never work with Jacobs at 3rd. He can’t even defend 1st above average, what makes you think he can transfer to 3rd and do a passable job? Gordon at 2nd? No way. Butler at 1st, probably not. We don’t have the budget to sign a Burrell anyway.

And I can’t imagine Crisp leading off with a below league average OBP. I can see Crisp more as a 7/8th in the batting order.

Okay, no?

1. Wait, we signed Burrell?
2. Gordon isn’t moving to second.
3. Mike Jacobs would be “Bobby Bonilla bad” at third base. He can’t field his way out of a paper bag at first.
4. Protection won’t affect Guillen. He prefers to just go ahead and take his chances with the babies.

A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.

not to be a smart alec

but how does one field his way out of a paper bag?

(okay, I meant to be a little bit of a smart ass)

That lineup...

may not crack the .310 mark in OBP. Seriously? No thanks.

This could be

the funniest thing I have read in a while….if you really think that infield could win 90 games you are putting a lot of faith in our pitching staff not allowing any hits. And since our pitchers “pitch to contact” I don’t think this would work at all.

I stopped taking this post seriously...

after Jacobs was listed at 3B.

Don’t do drugs.

Too pessimistic

I was thinking more like 120-130 wins. Did you forget we hired Kevin Seitzer as hitting instructor?

Someone With Administrator's

Privileges please pinch this twit’s head off and toss it by the wayside. I’m extremely tolerant of dissenting opinion, but this is just inane. I’m an imbecile, but I’m at least interested in learning what other peoples’ opinions are and how they come by them. I may even change an opinion when presented with new evidence. CubFreak seems incapable of doing or unwilling to do this. He is even more of a waste of bandwidth than I am at my meandering, pontificating worst; off with his head.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

But I’m showing restraint. He’s going to have to mind his P’s and Q’s, but I shouldn’t just ban him for being annoying.

No, that's not all

You are being disrespectful, pretending that you are a part-time Royals fan, talking out of your ass, and half of the time bashing players that you know essentially nothing about. Take it down a couple notches and be respectful of the genuine Royals fans here, or you’re going to be taking a little vacation from this site.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

by NYRoyal on Dec 7, 2008 1:34 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I'm being disrespectful?

Have you read all the replies? I’ve never told anyone that they were full of sh*** I’ve been told that. Didn’t see where you warned them.

While I am a Cubs Fan, I have cheered for the RedSox and Royals since the 80s! Looking forward to visit the K this summer. Am I as knowlegable as others? Not always. Does that mean I can’t state/repond my case with fellow Royals fans? I truly enjoy talkin Royals Baseball.

My arguments have been that Butler is young enough where he can continue to develop while someome like a “Burrell” can help KC win NOW! KC also needs to add a veteran as their 5th starter with a proven track record. If you disagree with me fine, but stating an opinion is not bashing players.

Just behave

Be respectful (which includes not calling minda "mindless") and watch the off-the-cuff statements about how crappy every Royals starter is outside of Greinke and Hochevar, who Butler is a suck who hits like a SS. You haven’t earned the right to be such a pain in the ass. You can argue with me, or you can straight up and fly right. If you don’t behave, you’ll be suspended, period.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the biggest flaw here

JUST 15 wins?”
It generally takes a long damn time to build up to 15 more wins in a season (with the Rays being the obvious exception). A single-year improvement of 4-6 games is more realistic. There is no such thing as “just” 15 wins.

by minda33 on Dec 7, 2008 6:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

With all of the massive changes the Royals have made this offsesason, a 15-win improvement is conservative

Development of young players = 5 wins
Decreased playing time for TPJ/Gload = 5 wins
Jacobs = 5 wins
Crisp = 5 wins
(losing Ramirez and Nunez = -2 wins)

TOTAL = 18 win improvement!!!!!!!!!111

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Seitzer was one of the reasons for those numbers

Without him, it just would have been +14 wins. But I’m probably underselling Seitzer as only accounting for 4 wins himself.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Looking at hayseed teeth, what with the tight unies they were sporting.
