Northwestern Has Not Won a Bowl Game Since 1949

Northwestern's bowl losing streak continues. No bowl wins since 1949. Despite the huge number of NU alumni in the Chicago sports media, I never heard about this streak when I lived on the fringes of Chicagoland on local TV and radio. Nope, never. Then again, Northwestern has also, amazingly, never made the NCAA Tournament in men's basketball either.

Weirdly, through totally un-related circumstances, I attended NU's most recent loss, a 2005 50-38 shootout loss to UCLA in the Sun Bowl. A game in which Northwestern had an early 22-0 lead after multiple defensive touchdowns.

Congrats to Mizzou and their incredibly un-athletic looking QB. A proud night for many Royals & Big 12 fans no doubt...

Don't know if it's a very proud night....Mizzou looked pretty craptacular in the first half

but a victory is a victory. It is a nice way to end the career of those guys who will be graduating and/or entering the NFL Draft.

Hopefully ‘Spoon will be back (he claimed he’s coming back after the game…but filed paperwork), but there will definitely be holes to fill next season. Of course, replacing some of our defensive players will be a good thing. Props to Daniel, Coffman, Maclin, Saunders and co. for their successes at Mizzou….

Give him time

He should be able to add a third chin after he struggles to find work next year. I see him hanging around Shiloh in Columbia in two years and fifty more pounds, hovering over a glass of whiskey, telling blonde co-eds, “you don’t say no to me! I used to be Chase Daniel! I was a Heisman finalist! I USED TO BE SOMEBODY!!”

there are tons of rumors that he got hurt in mid-season....

but played through it…..so I’m not sure the guy we saw was the best he has to offer.

But who has the better journalism program?

The country still awaits that outcome.

Northwestern

had no business losing that game. Mizzou handed to them over and over.
