Royals to speak to agent of Lyon, Farnsworth, and Counsell. I don't think we have much need for Counsell, but Farnsworth and Lyon could provide some help in the bullpen. Farnsworth is coming off a pretty big contract, but I think we might be able to lock them both up for $4-5 a piece.

I liked Counsell and Lyons

Two years ago, but they seem much less attractive now. What would Counsell even do here? Provide insurance for Callaspo/Aviles? Is this the big middle infield acquisition we can expect?

He is gritty though, I’ll give him that.

Counsell is a waste

But Moore probably wants someone on the bench who he thinks he can trust to backup SS. At least he isn’t TPJ. But I doubt this happens. Lyon is a decent inexpensive option who will likely turn into another sandwich pick (if it happens).

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

BTW, Will would prefer that we keep this stuff in the Winter Meetings Open Thread

(I think there will be one for each day) Keeping the discussion there probably makes more sense than creating a new fanshot for every rumor that comes out.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

My fault...

I didn’t realize the protocol for winter meetings.

Royalsreview.com is going high protocol

It’s all about rules, baby. Will maintains order and makes the trains run on time.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

you guys should actually read the article

it says the royals are interested in farnsworth and lyon, and the agent wants to discuss counsell as well.

we need a backup that can play SS anyways. unless you guys want TPJ on the roster.

+1

The Monkeys see Counsell as a 1.3 WAR player. If he can be had for under $3.5M, that wouldn’t be bad.

TPJ as a backup

Is fine with me so long as Trey is under strict orders to keep his PAs under 200

I have very little faith in Hillman

…and yet, I think that if TPJ were on the 25-man roster for the entire season, I’m confident TH wouldn’t let him exceed 200 PA’s. Maybe not even 150. Also, even at that, I don’t want him on the 25-man roster, but it wouldn’t be catastrophic.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Yes, it would be.
