Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Tribute to the 111th Most Prolific RB in NFL History

How did this guy end up with fewer career rushing yards than: Natrone Means, Mike Alstott, Tyrone Wheatley, Dorsey Leavens, Sammy Winder and Michael Pittman?

He looked so unstoppable for awhile. Then... he's out of the league.

Tribute.

Consider this your Super Bowl Open Thread, if you want to have one. I'm no Giants fan, and I believe I've made my thoughts on the Patriots known. So, fun!

Apathetic
About the super bowl this year.  I guess I hope the Giants win because I'm a big Brandon Jacobs and Michael Strahan fan, but at the same time I (i) can't stand giants fans; (ii) am not a fan of Eli Manning; (iii) would rather see Randy Moss win a Super Bowl before Plaxico Burress wins one.  Add it all up, and it's a wash at best and at worst, neurotic confusion on my part.
"I'm tired of all these stupid a$$ questions every day. Why the f**k would I hit Brett for Miller?" The rest is history.

One trick pony
I saw Okoye as pretty much a one-skill runner.  He was a big, strong power runner who had some speed when running straight ahead but with relatively little agility or ability to move laterally.  So he was effective when he had a good offensive line who could open up some holes to power through, but that was about it.  He could only effectively run between the tackles and if a hole didn't open up for him, he couldn't use speed and agility to get yardage on his own.

As far as the Super Bowl goes, I have no horse in this race, so I'm rooting for the underdog and hoping it is at least a competitive game for four quarters.  But I think the food will be better than the game.

I probably disagree with you.

Too many
Swanson Pot Pies.

By the way, did you see him on the reality show "Pirate Master"??? He was kicked off because he wasn't athletic enough to keep up with the other contestants.

I'm rooting for Budweiser to come up with the best commercial. Oh, there's a game too?

That Play
Will be seen frequently for a long time; better than "The Catch", better than "The Immaculate Reception". Nothing, however, will surpass the Cal-Stanford band play, ultimately meaningless as it was. It was awesome. The Boise State hook and ladder wasn't bad, either.

In defense of Okoye
He missed out on 4-5 yrs of playing time, else he most likely would have ranked much higher.

Pretty unusual to enter the league at age 26.

Not germane to the topic, but interesting to me
"Nigerian Nightmare" has to rank among anybody's all time favorite sports nicknames, right?

It was perfect - it describes his origins, his running style, and uses alliteration to boot.

I also like nicknames that rhyme, such as Dick "Night Train" Lane from the old days of the NFL, and "The Hick from French Lick" for Larry Bird. "The Kansas Comet" is another favorite.
