Juan Gone

Juan Gonzalez will be joining the Cardinals as a non-roster invitee this spring.  My prediction is that he will pull either a hamstring or an oblique by March 18.  Any thoughts or sneers of derision from the Royals faithful?

Sadly, MLBTR doesn't project him breaking camp...
...with the big-league team.  Me, I don't predict him breaking camp, period.  A mysterious muscle pull will sideline him indefinitely.

But he and the Cardinals deserve each other.  Who knows, him and LaRue could form a killer tandem somehow together.

Doesn't matter......
If he makes the team it means he completely destroyed pitchers in ST. Also it will force Skip Schumaker off the team.. so who cares crappy little minor league deal it doesn't matter....

I believe the MiLB contract
Sums to less than $1MM.  If he mashes in Spring Training, and then signs the guaranteed contract and tweaks his hammy the first week (which, judging by his recent and not so recent past, is a likely possibility), then would it be a good move?

It doesn't matter if he hits .400/.500/.600 in Spring Training.  With a trio of young outfielders (Duncan, Schumaker, Ankiel) in dire need of everyday P.T., it's simply a risk not worth taking, and a little embarrassing for a franchise who has contended in recent years.

That's not true....
Schumaker will never be an everyday player he just isn't that kind of talent... The best he can hope for is a So Taguchi type career. Also naming those players shows the Cards problem too many left-handed outfielders... Duncan and Ankiel are locks for the outfield but the third spot is up in the air... I see it as Barton's spot if he is healthy wont know if he is healthy until Spring... I doubt Juan will even make the team and if he does he just replaces a 4th or 5th outfielder so it doesn't matter...

Juan Gone
LaRue, Welly...it's nice to see that someone wanted this guys more than we did.  The Cardinals taking Royals castoffs has delighted me more this offseason than just about anything else.

will NEVER EVER get old!

Still bust a gut every time somebody posts that one.

i know
it's awesome on so many levels.

By the way, was this the original photo?  I don't remember there being a second person holding signs, but perhaps my memory is failing me. Was that girl in the lower right photoshopped in as part of a photoshop contest?

Isn't that
Tony LaRussa's son holding the sign?
