Gotay a Brave, Which Means Moore Can Now Reaquire Him

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AigMA.YFXjrVh.eSKLnHy5QRvLYF?slug=ap-braves-gotay&prov=ap& amp;type=lgns

ATLANTA (AP)--The Atlanta Braves claimed infielder Ruben Gotay off waivers from the New York Mets on Friday and sent first baseman Scott Thorman outright to Triple-A Richmond.

Gotay, who batted .295 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 98 games for the Mets last season, will be on Atlanta's 25-man roster as a utility infielder. The Braves needed a backup infielder while Omar Infante recovers from a broken bone in his hand.

Until he can put up Ross Gload numbers
Then we should absolutely not sign Gotay to a two year deal.

I was going to make that joke...
...but I thought it was too trite.  I guess some jokes are never too trite around here.  In fact, a joke isn't funny around here until it's been really beaten to death.
I probably disagree with you.

Gotay
He did a pretty nice job for the Mets, but then Minaya dealt for and later inexplicably signed Luis Castillo to a multi-year deal, sealing his fate.

Gotay can hit a little bit and with the right platoon partner could be a useful guy. Of course, how many could we say that about...

And he's a defensive liability
He can only play second base and he might even be worse than German there.
I probably disagree with you.

Good to see Goat back in the game.
I liked him.  After the Pena trade there just wasn't room for him in KC.  I hope he gets a good shot with Atlanta.
