Tough month

Just so everyone knows my fantasy football team name was Royal Fan=Packer Fan.  I'm 31 years old, so I basically spent all of my 20's cheering for my favorite baseball player of all time, Mike Sweeney, in the summers and favorite footballer, Brett Favre, in the falls and winters.  In the same month they both left my teams.  At a very, very, very lower level, I feel like a dad of military kids and getting 2 of those bad letters in the same month.  I understand why we didn't resign Sweeney, and I understand that Favre is 'tired mentally,' but this is NOT what I need while I am selling my house and trying to get a new job.  I need April to be better, like the Royals start with 15-8 record and Alex is hitting .432 with 7 bombs.  Then, the Pack follows it up by trading up 6 spots and drafts Aqib Talib with the 21st pick of the 1st round.  NOW THAT WOULD BE A REBOUND MONTH!

favre's justification for retiring
was honest, but sorta depressing

he basically said the team was too good now, and the only way the season would be a success was, well, something he was too afraid to try doing

that is rough

Hillman, you're on notice.

I don't see
Retirement sticking. He'll be back in 2009.

I think he is done...
He is smart enough to know when enough is enough.  He will be great in the booth and will be making big bucks selling all sorts of things on TV.  Good luck, Brett...

You think so?
I just don't see Favre as the kinda guy that would do tv, at least not for a long time.  He just isn't in the Aikman, Young mold I don't think
Marriage is a great institution, for those that like being in institutions.

As for your baseball hero,
I would strongly recommend taking your time, and figure out which Royal makes you feel the best about him, and put your heart and soul in to rooting for him. Soon, your problem will be solved.

Personally, I would recommend Billy Butler. (I have had DDJ as my favorite for a while, but I think Butler is about to replace him). Billy may be more fun to root for than Gordon, at least to me, because of his aw-shucks country exuberance/hick vibe. Gordon, while very talented, strikes me as too laid back to get as excited about, even if he performs as well as Butler.

I am going to go with Bannister...
Just because he is a thinking man's pitcher (ala Greg Maddux.  Butts and Gordo are great to cheer for and Gator and his speed can light up the inning.  So, I will stick with Banny and just root for the entire Royals team.

Good to see you back, Greg...

I Didn't Pick
Mine; Gordon plays my old position (and very well at that) and the ball seems to jump off his bat like few I've seen. He just stands out to me; I think his ceiling is a HOF career.
I'm not getting older....oh, wait, yes I am....and slower.... and weaker. God, this is great!
