Great Bannister article.....

Not sure if this has been posted or not but a pretty good read regarding Bannister.

I always appreciate an article on a Royals player for better or worse during Spring Training......that said, anyone have any thoughts on what Passan wrote?

Bannister's understanding of pitching
Bannister's comprehensive understanding of pitching including both traditional and sabermetric perspectives gives me great optimism that he will do what is necessary to improve where he needs to improve.  It isn't all about strike outs, but he understands how important they are.  And that is why he's working out his secondary pitches so that he can have more out pitches and thus more strike outs.  No, he won't get up to 8 or 9 K/9, but I think he can and will increase his strike out rate.  I don't think he's a sub-4.00 ERA going forward, but I do think he is and will continue to be a good #2/3 starting pitcher.
I probably disagree with you.

hopefully the the positive press banny gets...
...for his embrace of both traditional and sabermetric perspectives encourages more pitchers to do the same.  Each time I read one of those articles, I like the Burgos-for-Bannister trade a little more.

Burgos
Perhaps he'll start studying sabermetrics while he takes the year off after Tommy John surgery.
I probably disagree with you.

looks like Passan reads RR
Both of the two articles he mentioned were featured here.  Granted, he could have uncovered one or the other independently, done a search on Banny and encountered the other article.

However, considering he was a KCStar guy before he headed to Yahoo, I wouldn't be surprised if he still follows the R's a little, and this would be the best place to start.

Anyway, it was a good article.
