BOD: Boyfriend of the Day March 31, 2008
My royals made me a proud momma today. But...who did enough to win my heart as the first Boyfriend of the Day for 2008? What's really more important; gritty clutch, veteran leadership, or hot stuff from the 'pen? Read more to find out!
I can't tell you how glad I am that we got this first win under our belt. And, as I told my dad last night (and he will verify this for me I'm assuming), I have already predicted that we will go 4-2 on this first set of away games. Even though I had classes in the middle of the game, I'm okay with it. Because my boys came through in the end. I know you guys are done listening to my ramble, so let's get this started
Boyfriend of the Day
First of all, I want to let you all know that this one was a tough decision. And even though I want to go with the 'team sticker' route a la "wildthang," I don't think I can handle that many boyfriends in my life. It might be a bit overkill for the first game of the year, you know ;-)
But, today's BOD is...
Mark Grudzielanek!
Not only has enough time gone by that I can write his name out without looking it up, but the man's got a .750 batting average (obviously the most important stat there is, my friends). He got on base, he made things happen. Whooo Grudz! 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI (in case anyone else wanted more stats).
Didn't have Grudz for your BOY? Not to worry, because we also have...
Smitten Kitten
Even though I generally hold myself to one boyfriend per day, smitten kittens are a different breed and we have many deserving players for this spot after today's game.
Alex Gordon!
Even though he went 1 for 5, that one hit had punch to it and helped our boys in blue out a lot! 2 run home run that I sadly missed due to a math class. But I'm sure that it was the stuff that dreams are made of.
Tony Peña Jr.
They grow up so quickly...Anyways, our 11th inning hero is also in need of a SK today, and I do believe that his continued success will result in the Loyal2s Gobstoppers to be changed to the L2 Jalapeña Hotties. Yeow
Most Valuable Opponent
Our MVO today is a frenemy (if you do not know what this means, you are too old. Go read the urban dictionary). An old friend who is fighting for us from behind enemy lines, if you will.
Denny Bautista!
Looks like old habits die hard, Bautista. You win some, you lose some. Today you just happened to lose.

| Tony Peña Jr. | 0 | 1 | 0 |

And that, my friends, is the end of the first official BOD of the year. Did we all make it through? Are we all still breathing? Or do we think that this is just a really good dream? You know the drill; sound off, tell me that I'm wrong, tell me that I jipped so and so from his rightly earned award. Either way, I look forward to my next BOD!

Excellent choices
It's good to have the BOD back. Now I know it is baseball season.
I probably disagree with you.
Nice Boyfriends
Nunez might have also deserved a bit of love today. It's nice to have so many heroes on Opening Day.
You know,
I was really tempted to put Nunez in there, too. And I almost did, but I had so much coding going on that it was making me tweak out a bit.

I think
that Greinke should have won something. I'm sure he contributed greatly from the bench....
seriously, great to be able to celebrate a BOD again! Let's hope there are many more.

Welcome Back BOD!
I'm sure Greinke will get his fair share buddyball, Loyal 2 wouldn't have it any other way.
Is it possible to be a two or three timer?
With so many worthy candidate, perhaps opening day should have had boyfriends of the day. I admire the willing to stand by your man for the day. Grudz is an appropriate choice
Hate to admit it
I missed BOD.
Loyal2 needs to post more. Nuff said.
By the way..class is not as important as Opening Day (unless you had a test).
These classes are very important
unfortunately. I had big projects/chunks of grade either due or up for grabs today so I had no choice but to do so.
And don't worry, I hope to be making these at least 84 more times this season!

Nice to see Grudz getting some love
Grudz gets bashed a lot around here for various reasons, but he's always coming through when needed. I think he'll be traded this year (and rightly so), but he's been a consistant player in this lineup that has been anything but. By the way, that's a great pic of TPJ.
I'm not going to bash him until he actually proves that he's hit the wall
He's been fighting off the grim reaper for multiple seasons. Many have predicted that he'd suddenly turn to crap and he simply hasn't done it. He still has near Gold Glove defense and he's hit pretty well for a 2B for the Royals. I'm not going to be a Grudz-basher or even a trade-him-now guy until he actually becomes a different player. So far, so good.
I probably disagree with you.

Stop the contest...
I am in first place.
Go ahead and bash NYR.
"Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call. "
*Sing it Gracie*
i like Grudz
and if i didn't suspect you 'trade 'em before the wheels fall off' guys were right (as you annoyingly tend to be) i might buy a jersey with his name on it. in cool base, i think.
additionally, i'm also blushingly glad BOD is OTMF.
The first thing I know about someone in a KC hat is that they're loyal.
