Around SBN: Phillies trade for OF Matt Stairs Bar-right-arrows

Another Royals castoff has Tommy John surgery

First, it was Ambiorix Burgos, who had elbow ligament replacement surgery in August of last year and will be out all of 2008.   Now, everybody's favorite taco-eating pitcher with a million dollar arm and a ten cent head, Andy Sisco, has undergone Tommy John surgery and will be out 12-24 months.  You can read all about it here

Sisco has been absolutely horrible for the White Sox.  His ERA for the Sox since the trade has been 8.36.  His ERA with their AAA club was 4.35.  In short, he's a train wreck with a lot of talent and no idea how to pitch.  Well, his high effort delivery and questionable mechanics have caught up with him.

I have never been a particular fan of Ross Gload and I didn't much like the trade at the time.  (I was all in favor of trading Sisco.  I just thought they could have gotten something better than Ross Gload).  But it is clear the the Royals have really gotten the better end of this trade.

Any guesses on how many pounds Andy will gain while "rehabbing"?  I'd put the over/under at 20.

all things come back to gload

Sometime around 2011, I predict, Sisco will have another good season, and earn himself three more chances. Still, he's gonna have to work if he wants to retire as a millionaire.

Headcase.

I have seen Sisco pitch in person at a baseball academy that I work out at, and he is absolutely nuts. Everything you've read about his crazy makeup is correct.

I thought the Sisco trade was awful at the time

But he really hasn't done much since, so I guess I can't blame Dayton too much. Still, I would have liked us to address a different need rather than picking up a light hitting slick-fielding first baseman.
