A few Stats from last night

imagine my surprise when my row 'E' seats in section 135 turned out to be on the railing! it was pretty awesome, we were probably 15 yards from the foul pole, good sight lines, i could have spit and hit matsuki.... if it weren't raining for eight innings with the wind in our faces. now, on to the promised stats. Royals-4 Yankees-0 Rain-2 Cellphones-0 parking-1 grantfunk-0 yup. two phones in less than 5 innings. awesome! also fun, i took a quick bathroom break to warm up and missed Bucks fountain shot. grrrrrr seriously, i looked at the website, discussed it with my friend and tried really, really hard to park in the right place. i failed. it was like insult to injury to have to walk all the way back to my crappy parking job in the rain. all that aside, pretty sweet game to watch live, that scoreboard is insane, i really like the one in the RF wall, it's handy. i'm glad Greinke had a good night, the moments with several runners was scarry, but it worked out well and i'm hopefull for bale tonight. did the radio/tv give everyone else the scoop on the pitching change? we didn't get it until just before the start of play. Sorry for the disjointed post, i'm a bit tired from my late/cold/wet night and extra long commute this AM (i stayed with a buddy in KC then drove straight in), i just wanted to express my desire for both more wins and a ziplock bag for all future games. I'm glad to keep sacrifice a cell phone (only 13 months to a free upgrade!) for a series win. lets go blue!

The pitching switch

It was weird. I watched the game on the Yankees network and they didn't find out the SP had changed until literally 5 minutes before first pitch. They had no idea what was going on. It wasn't until they were well into the first inning before they got word on Girardi's meteorlogical strategy. The New York sports media is hammering him for it today. Although, they recognize it is a moot point, because the Yankees didn't score any runs.

I probably disagree with you.

Both the Dodgers and the Giants did the same thing last week, also with young pitchers. A week ago Wednesday in Los Angeles Chad Billingsley and Tim Lincecum were the scheduled starters, and just like yesterday in KC the forecast was for rain showers severe enough to interrupt the game at some point in the early going. Near gametime both managers decided to start the game with bullpen guys -- Kuo for the Dodgers and Valdez for the Giants. Apparently it was Torre's idea initially, and Bochy liked the idea so much he followed suit.

That game worked out even more strangely than last night's. The rain eventually fell severely enough to interrupt the game -- but only after both managers decided to put their starters into the game in the 4th inning. So Torre wound up wasting a turn for Billingsley after all, as he pitched less than an inning. Bochy, however, put Lincecum back into the game after the rain delay, which was over 70 minutes long. Lincecum wound up pitching a total of 4 innings, and Bochy was criticized here for using Lincecum as he did even more severely than Girardi is being criticized today.

So far, Lincecum has shown no ill effects from pitching on both sides of that rain delay, as he was very impressive in his most recent start, Tuesday against the Padres.

sorry about the formatting.

my laptops down (take that, technology!) and my school computer won't let me update Firefox to v.2. That, apparently is what the SBNation warning meant when it said my browser wasn't compatible. i promise i didn't just type a huge blob of poop. frankly, the writing was poopy, but i swear i formatted it correctly.

The first thing I know about someone in a KC hat is that they're loyal.
