BOD: Boyfriend of the Day April 9, 2008
Once again, I'm very late with this one. I was woken this morning at 7 am because of a natural gas leak and because it was quite potent...and then I ended up reading from then until 11. Oops? Anyways, I'm finally here and ready to work on this.
Just a quick note from royals.com...
There was joy in Mudville. Mighty KC did not strike out.
And now...on to the BOD.
I know all the guys told me last night that this was a no brainer, that I of all people should know who the obvious choice for tonight is good.
TONY PENA JR!!!!!

Oh...maybe not. He's giving me that look. In all seriousness, let's get to what I know you're all dying to read.
Boyfriend of the Day

Zack Greinke!!!!!
Okay, you guys can read me like a book, I admit it. Not only did he go 8 innings, but my baby is tough.
Greinke got tougher as he went along. Through eight innings, he had thrown 107 pitches and was willing to finish up.
"I believe he could have probably finished the game, but I just don't think it's the prudent thing to do in your second start in these conditions," Hillman said.
Straight from Hillman to Dick Kaegel's...fingers? hands? Not his mouth. I know someone was asking about Zack in the overflow thread...he was sitting down in that photo...but he's 6'2", 185 lbs (yes, I stalk his player info on the web site ;D). Anyways, 6 hits no runs...2 walks and 2 Ks. Not his best stuff, but I'll take it considering how nasty the weather was last night.
Smitten Kitten

John Buck!
John went 2 for 4 with a solo shot...
John Buck peered through the raindrops and drove Farnsworth's first pitch of the inning over the left-center-field wall. It banged into the back wall of the waterfall and plopped, appropriately, into the pool. The drive was estimated at 439 feet.
"It's tough to see, so if you get a pitch, jump on it," Buck said. "That was my approach today. He came after me, and luckily, I made good contact."
His bowl cut of hair kinda annoys me, but I'll let it slide. I'm glad he made good contact last night, that's for sure.

And now, I will leave you with a quote from Kaegel.
So the Royals stood at 6-2 in the American League Central.
"Did the White Sox win tonight?" Billy Butler asked.
The answer was no.
"That means we're in sole possession of first place," Butler with a beaming smile.
Yep, somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout. It's right here in Mudville.

Good choices. I'm glad Zack considers himself tough.
loyal2, I have a small suggestion. Feel free to disregard it. On your BOD standings (which look great, by the way), you could award 3 pts to each player for BOD, 2 pts for SK and 1 pt for HM (like how they do 1st, 2nd and 3rd place votes for MVP and ROY). And you could show each players total points in the fourth column to show the current leader board. Just a thought.
I probably disagree with you.
sounds good
I'll work on making a prettier HTML table, don't worry.
and this year i'll actually try to keep up with the leader boards for the RR contest...everyone's dying to know NOW whether or not they'll be getting brownies in september after all ;)

Tables
One thing I found that you can do pretty easily is either create a table in Word, or just plug the data into an Excel spreadsheet and copy it to Word. Then copy whatever you have in Word (Fanpost text and table) into the Fanpost thing. It maintains all of the formatting without having to type in all the HTML code for a table.
I probably disagree with you.

i like the HTML
it's like a big challenge for me :) And I've already learned a huge chunk of it, so this is just me flexing my internets muscles.

It's good HTML practice
And you can put HTML coding in the "skills" section of your resume.
I probably disagree with you.

on the point thing
those tallies are only there so i know how many points are given later on. So, for example, Zack and Gordo are not at the same level even though they both have 2 tallies. Zack would have 6 points and Gordon would have 4 (I really like this 3/2/1 thing, you know)

gordon would have 6 points. I didn't realize he was up to 3 SKs.

And you could weight it differently, if you like
You might want to give a bigger bonus to the BOD and make it:
BOD: 5 pts
SK: 3 pts
HM: 1 pt
Or whatever works for you.
I probably disagree with you.

I believe that I had it at
2, 1, and .5 but I don't think that that makes me happy anymore.
