Game 2 Overflow Thread
The Royals finally showed some offensive life in the sixth, taking a 2-0 lead and forcing Rogers out of the game.
Through six plus, Brian Bannister has been the Banny we all expected: throwing strikes, somehow avoiding hits, being efficient. He's also struck out four, which isn't awesome, but isn't half bad either. It's not like he's had zero Ks today.
We go to the eighth.

by Scott McKinney on Apr 2, 2008 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Actually, yes.
The throw should be going home, so he can take third. If him going to third induces a cutoff which insures the run scores, then so much the better.

The other problem is that Grudz stuttered coming around third
He'd have been out at the plate if the throw came through.

Does anyone else have problems with the new software where you have a comment highlighted and then a new one comes in above it in the thread which then becomes the highlighted comment (although my browser doesn't jump up to show me thats the highlighted comment) and then I hit Z to mark the comment as read but instead of marking the original comment that was highlighted it marks the one above so I have absolutely no idea which comment was new and have to go searching (through hundreds of comments) to try and hunt it down...
Basically, I am saying why does it auto highlight a new comment when you already have one highlighted? Shouldn't it just stay on the one you are currently reading?

It's interesting
that our new manager hasn't had to really do anything yet. After all the Buddy bashing and praise the lord he's gone. We might be able to see that NYRoyal is correct in that managers really don't matter a whole lot.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he is gone just like the next guy. But our players coming through and performing is just really great to see. Meanwhile, Trey is just sitting back and taking it all in so far. 160 left to go.

Steve Philips gives Royals a tiny tiny bit of love
The afternoon SportsCenter tried to paint the story as "What's wrong with the Cubs and Tigers?" But when they got to the Tigers, he said "The tendency is for us to say 'what's wrong with the Tigers' but really we should give credit to the Royals and their pitching staff. We're just not used to thinking about them lately, but they're gonna surprise a lot of people this year." And they showed video of Soria's awesome curve I can watch that all day.
Thank you, Steve Phillips
I hate how dismissive of the Royals the national media usually is. But I'm happy to give them credit when they actually give the Royals credit for what they've done.
I probably disagree with you.

Wow, Banny getting mad love on BBTN
They're spending a whole lot of time on analyzing him and his day. They even talked to him on the phone
BBTN really did give the Royals a lot of respect
They spent a lot of time talking about how good Bannister is. And then Gammons fawned all over Dayton Moore and how he's rebuilt the pitching staff. He finished by saying the Royals might be the the most improved team in the AL.
I know they won't hesitate to leap off of the Royals bandwagon, but I'm glad to see they are willing to climb on when the win a couple of games.
I probably disagree with you.
Gammons looks better than last year
Perhaps he's more fully recovered from his stroke.
A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.
Seems to be essentially as articulate as the pre-stroke version
I probably disagree with you.
