Backup OF

With DeJesus ankle leaving him uncertain as to when he will return to action that puts Gathright in as our CF for the time being (which I'm glad to see him in there). My question is are the Royals relying on German to be able to serve as a back up OF for the time being? Shouldn't they be bringing in Costa/Hollins or someone until DDJ is good to go to handle that back up role?

Don't forget about Gload

He is as much a corner OF as a 1B

I doubt they use him

But Ron Mahay has played five games in CF before in the big leagues.

Haha

Chris Resop, pitcher for the Braves played LF for one out tonight.

Their bullpen was gassed. Resop came in for the tenth, got a batter out. Brought in the LOOGY to face LaRoche and sent Resop to LF. The LOOGY struck out LaRoche, then they brought Resop back in to pitch. It didn't work (as in, the Bravos lost), but it was pretty funny.

i saw that too...

has to be tough for a pitcher to pitch to a batter, then stand out in the outfield for a batter, then come back and pitch to another batter.

not making excuses or anything, but it certainly wasnt surprising to see him give up a hit to put the pirates ahead.
