Who Has Been Paid More?

Simple question: as of today, April 5, 2008, who has been paid more, over their career, Brett Tomko or Mark Grudzielanek?

Gimme your first guess. Don't study it, just take a guess.

No internet searching allowed, post your guesses in the comments. If you really want to stretch your brain, post a total as well. Answers revealed tomorrow morning, around noon.

(There is no point to this, moral or otherwise, and I'm certainly not trying to make one. Just asking a simple question about a subject we all have an interest in. I was just listening to some '90s U2 and one thing led to another.)

Well

the obvious answer for me is Grudz, but since that is the obvious answer i would say Tomko

I love life. Life = Royals

I'd guess Tomko.

And one thing shouldn't lead to another unless you're listening to The Fixx.

Tomko

seems more likely considering the overpayment of pitchers...i'm sure he got a fat deal somewhere.

I'd assume

they are pretty close, but I'd probably go with Tomko based on pitchers make more than 2B's.

I am going with Tomko

Back in the early part of his career he was considered a pretty hot young pitcher by the Reds. Probably not out of line with how we here in Kansas City see Zack Grenkie. He did win something like 12 games his rookie year. He was traded around and played for some cash flush teams like the Dodgers and the Mariners during the 90's. Grudz came out of the Montreal system so he would have been nickeled and dimed as long as possible.

tomko.

pitchers make way too much money for what they are actually worth..

Grudz is move valuable...

but being a pitcher, I'm sure someone overpaid for Tomko's service at some point, so I'll go with Tomko.

answer

roughly, to date:

Grudz: 32 million
Tomko: 17 million

thanks for playing!

I expect that as of today Grudz is the Royals player who has earned the most during his career.

Now that Reggie Sanders and Mike Sweeney are gone I bet that $32M is the most earned by any current Royals. Meche probably has earned about $20M so far? Guillen might have earned more than $25 during his career. I doubt there are any other members of the team who have earned more than $10M so far. Oh yeah, Berroa. Yeah, he probably comes in fourth or fifth.

Salary Dollars

Really need to convert those to constant dollars before comparing.
