Olivo wants to be Oleaving?
"We'll see what happens. Maybe the team will trade me. I don't know," he said. "They have said I could play some other position, but I'm a catcher. I don't want to do a bad job in another position that I don't know.
"It's a new team, new thing for me," he continued. "I've never been through this. I talked to my lawyer and they say maybe things will change, but nothing has changed. This is very hard for me, but things change and you have to adjust."

No, he didn't say that he wants to leave
He didn’t say he wants to leave. He didn’t say he wants to be traded. He said he wants to play and that it is hard to go from being a starter to being a part-time player. He briefly mentioned that he might get traded, which is obviously a significant possbility sometime this season.
We really don’t need to spin every comment a Royals player makes into something negative and divisive.
I probably disagree with you.
I knew it..
you ARE Miguel Olivo’s lawyer! The game is up ;)
I know you’re right and I’m not trying to be divisive or spin…but…..it is definitely one of the more not quite positive/separatist/wierd mention of talk to lawyers interesting things I have seen on the Official Homepage.
His divisive statement:
“Maybe the team will trade me.” That’s not exactly negative or confrontational. It is an extremely mild comment. I can’t imagine why anyone would find it more than very mildly interesting.
I probably disagree with you.

Yea
Usually when people say “I’ve contacted my lawyer” its not meant to be divisive or confrontational.

so okay get olivo pissed off
this is a great way for the organization to be even taken remotely seriously when they try to sign a free agent

What in the world are you talking about?
Now you’re complaining that the Royals are screwing up because they are “pissing off” Olivo? How are they screwing up? He wasn’t brought in to be a starter. He wasn’t told that he’d be a starter. He wants more playing time. That’s fine. It’s not like he deserves more playing time. No free agent is going to dislike the Royals because they didn’t give more playing time to a mediocre player like Olivo. You’re working really hard to find things to criticize about this organization. Are you going to complain about the uniforms next?
I probably disagree with you.

Tough luck
he’s a professional baseball player, and was signed with the clear idea of backing up Buck. Just because he’s had a power surge in limited playing time doesn’t change that, and he’s being paid quite handsomely for a back-up. It’s worth noting that he really wasn’t a viable starting option…he’s just an okay glove and a good lefty-masher who swings at everything.
A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.
