Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

May 9th for the 35th time.

Happy Birthday to me!

This is a bit self indulgent, and yeah, maybe I'm fishing for a congratulatory comment or two.  I just thought I would take a look back and see just how the Royals have faired on this glorious 35th anniversary of the day I cast off my umbilcal cord. So, enjoy this trip down memory lane with me as I chase away last nights hangover in preparation for tomorrows.

What's the point of all this?   None really....But the Royals overall have won 14 times on my brthday, and lost 18.  Hopefully we can get that closer to .500 tonight.

Also, you can see that KC has only held first place three time on this date for as long as I have been alive.  And while Jim Colborn and Runelvys Hernandez have twice led to disappointing Birthdays, Jeff Suppan and Bret Saberhagen both came through for me with two wins each.

Since 2000, we are 4-4 on this date, with 3 wins out of the last 4 seasons.  Current Royals who have pitched admirably for me, are Peralta, Gobble, and Soria.

We have played four games before against the O's, and are 2-2.  So, all things considering, I have neither inspired or jinxed us on the ninth of May....and it could go either way tonight.  Predicting a win though...4-3.

We’ve got momentum.

I probably disagree with you.

2003

One of the classic Sidney Ponson vs. Runelvys Hernandez matchups, where the mound was pressed a bit farther into the earth than normal after 3 innings of being stood on by such men.
