Has Davies been hanging out with Banny? Somehow he has a 1.54 ERA despite striking out just five men in eleven innings this season.

Davies low ERA is paired with a very good FIP of 3.15

But let’s find something about his good performances so far to complain about. I have a feeling if he throws a complete game shutout there will be complaining because he wasn’t sufficiently efficient with his pitches.

I mean, there’s enough real stuff to complain about with this team. We don’t really need to downgrade genuine good performances too.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

He's very low-GRIT

I don’t think Davies will show grit until he’s 35 at least.

Davies has not allowed any HRs, which explains the good FIP

Unfortunately, his career HR/9 is 1.33. He also needs to cut down on the line drives (27% LD%, where 19%-20% is average).

Davies needs an effective third pitch

His fastball is very good when he controls it, and so is his changeup. If he can improve his breaking stuff I think he could be a #2 – #3 guy in his best years

but, like minda33 wrote, it just encourages him. DDJ is one of the best hitters, he should be swinging there, not bunting with 2 on, no outs in the third inning
