Royals Nation remembers the Little Sioux Scout Ranch tornado victims.
Yesterday,a tornado tore through Iowa, and devastated the Little Sioux Boy Scout Ranch, which is near Omaha, home of the Royals' AAA farm team. 4 Boy Scouts were killed, and I believe 48 were injured. Please join me in remembering these 4 young people who lost their lives trying to help their friends to safety and showed that they were true heroes. Also pray for the people who were injured during this storm.
According to the Boy Scouts of America,Mid-America Chapter, they are going to have a fund in memory of the 4 Scouts who died in this tragedy.
Here is the Boy Scouts of America,Mid-America Chapter website:
Hopefully, the Royals-both Kansas City and Omaha clubs will honor these young heroes and the Scouts at the Little Sioux Boy Scout Ranch with a special tribute. I hope both the Royals and the O-Royals will honor the survivors of this tragedy by welcoming them to the K and at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of everyone at the Little Sioux Boy Scout Ranch.

As someone who just became a father
Seeing that news story just made me sick.
I am really amazed at the stoic and mature reactions of the survivors though. They are an example for us all.

Well written...
And thanks for taking the time to acknowledge those tragically struck down in such a manner.
My son just became a Boy Scout this past winter, and he was shocked and saddened by the news of this. I appreciate you posting the link—I know he will be interested in making a donation, and I will match his contribution, as a former boy scout, myself.
I really don't know what to say... Did the post above this signature make sense? Probably not.

As an Eagle Scout,
who goes / went to Camp Bartle for many years, I must say, this is a real fear. The Scouts get a lot of bad press, but, a situation like this reminds us that Scouts truly are prepared for some of the worst situations out there.

Devestating
As a Eagle Scout from the Omaha Area and a father of 4 this hits real close to home. I remember camping at Little Sioux. The leader that was in charge this week at the camp was the scout master for my troop when I reached Eagle. I have a neighbor a few houses down who’s son was there. He was not injured but the stories of what happend are amazing. I truely believe that Scouting does prepair you for many different situations and this is one of them. It is good to see that they are going to rebuild. They say that the camp should be open again in a few weeks. This will only make us all stronger.
