Omaha came to town

This week the Omaha Royals came on down to hallowed Zephyr Field in the suburbs of New Orleans where Tony Pena led the immortal 2001 Z's to a co-championship.  Using his knowledge gained on how to manage the game the right way, he proceeded to lead the Royals to a magical baseball winning percentage.  The O-Royals were here for a four game series, ultimately taking 3 out of 4.   I was only able to attend tonight's game which the Royals won 6-1.  I'm no scout so my insight won't be helpful.

Brad Salmon went 5 innings and gave up a mere one hit for zero runs.

Billy Butler at first base had a 2-run double and a no-doubter solo HR in garbage time.  He had half of Omaha's RBI tonight.

Jason Smith at SS beautifully avoided an 0-5 performance by getting a single in the aforementioned garbage time.

Shane Costa accentuated a masterful 0-4 with a walk at the plate by gracefully dropping a foul fly ball to RF resulting in an error, but made the catch when it mattered when the next batter hit an easy fly ball to him in fair territory.

Shealy DHed.  Oh yeah, Maier and Lubanski also played.

Except for Gookie Dawkins being an awesome name, that's about it.

Sadly I missed Berroa by a week.

Sorry you missed Berroa

It would have been something to tell your kids about. “One day, I actually saw Angel Berroa play in a baseball game. He’s not just a legend; he was a real person.”

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

When I went to the K in 2006

I saw Verlander throw a 5 hit shutout. Berroa had that day off.

I’m cursed.

Why

is gookie dawkins back in the organization? When I saw that name on the stats page of the Star the other day I simultaneously crapped in my pants and threw up in my mouth. Any turdlets like him that are remnants of the Allard Baird regime should be flushed immediately. Who’s next, Chip Ambres? Abraham Nunez? Eli Marrero?

Organizational filler

When Berroa was traded, Omaha needed another IFer. So they gave Dawkins a minor league deal and moved Smith to SS. There’s no SS or 3B in NWA who is ready to be called up. Are you saying the Royals organization shouldn’t have any filler? Should we just leave the 3B position in Omaha open? Just have nobody play that position until a real prospect is ready?

And, what are you doing here anyway? You resigned your fandom of the Royals. You gave up on these “losers.” That’s fine. But if you do that crap, don’t come back.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Yeah, some moves are made for the minor league team, not the major league team

The major league team’s needs will always trump the minor league affiliate’s needs, but the minor league team still needs to field a competent team to stay in business. Gookie has virtually zero chance of ever contributing in the majors, but he can provide Omaha a stopgap infield glove rather than playing Shane Costa out of position or calling up an 18 year old from the complex league who is still working on distinguishing between a curve ball and a slider.

I disagree

They should send Gordon down to play third at Omaha and fill the position. This will relieve the IF logjam at the big club by freeing up playing time for German and Callaspo at third, while simultaneously giving the future of the organization: Mike “Avilanche” Aviles all the time at short.

Problem solved!

Actually...

They gave the White Sox a little cash to get Dawkins…

Not sure on the amount.

The need to sign organizational filler like Gookie Dawkins!

Easy: send Gordon down NOW!

(Do I need to spell it out…)

You can't let the AAA team fail

It would decrease confidence organization-wide. We must fix the 3B problem in Omaha at all costs!

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Who wants context?

I would much rather jump to conclusions

I Don't Need

To jump to any conclusion; I am there, and nothing can change my mind.
