Gload, German
Ok, haven't posted, commented in quite a while, but I've been attempting to keep up with the commentary on the site. Moving on....
In the last two weeks, German has had 18 AB's. In the same period, Gload has had 19 AB's.
Their respective lines and contracts:
Gload:.211/.211/.263 (2yrs/3.2M)
German: .222./.222./278 (1yr/1M)
When is Gload moved for peanuts or 10 bats (occured last week in an independent league)? Is this possible, or do we just continue to pay him to do explode on the bench?
Should the same route be taken with German, or do we see how he responds if Pena is released? (We don't need to go through his stats.)
I hope I don't see, "They're bench players. We don't need to expect much from them."

How could you talk about Esteban that way!
But seriously, I think Gload is good as a defensive replacement at 1st base and if there were actual opportunities to pinch hit, then maybe Este could show the bat he had two years ago when he was in a pinch hitter/day game starter role. I think these interleague games will be very big in whether we can move Esteban or not. If he can get some pinch hits for pitchers in the NL games then maybe an NL team would take him on to try and bolster their bench.
As far as the money goes, maybe I’m off, but these days that doesn’t really seem like a whole lot in the majors, that is pretty sad, isn’t it?

The problem with Ross
is that a defensive replacement at first base who can’t hit is a very narrow use of a roster space. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Moore admitted the sunk cost and DFA’d soon.
I feel bad for Esteban, as I feel like he’s been marginalized by a combination of a terrible start and a lack of opportunity.

pena won’t be released
german has to be on the trading block given our glut of 2b, and given past performance, is movable
gload is unlikely to get dumped with the 2 yr contract, no one wants him and he is fine on the bench at that contract
and two weeks and less than 20 AB’s is a terrible way to analyze players, especially when they have been bad all season and give you a nice sample size to criticize them on
is gload really ok on the bench
the point of two weeks and less than 20 ab’s is exactly that (especially in the case of Gload). He started 20 games in April, sucked and is now a bench player. I’m not saying it’s wrong that he has had his playing time reduced. I’m trying to ask, is it possible to find a taker for him in a salary dump?
Sorry, You Cannot Post This Today -- It is "Positive Thoughts Only" Friday
If you want to talk about German or Gload, your choice of topics are (1) neither has committed an error this week or (2) neither has been caught stealing this week. Talking about Pena, however, is strictly prohibited.
I think it's ok to have a few positive posts every month or so
I don’t think that puts us too far over the quota.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
As a corollary....
with Gload’s playing time limited, is Teahen our new 1B, for the forseeable future?
I'm not
Real impressed with his defense at 1B. Not that I think first base defense is all that important, but if you hit like Teahen, you should probably be really good on defense. Butler looks more comfortable at 1B in the limited times I’ve seen him to be honest.

Without being negative,
and you all should remember I’m a big German fan,
I still think it’s kinda strange to have a 13 man roster of position players with 5 of the spots taken by middle infielders.
I would think this would get cleared up one way or another when Butler gets recalled.
I'm a big German fan too
But his about as useful to our roster as an appendix right now.

Being Positive
Belly Butlard seems to have found his bat down in AAA again. I never thought he would pan out at first but he seemed to do a good job. Maybe we need to look at shopping Gritz and bringing Butlard back up. I’m not saying I don’t like Gritz I love the guy but he’s not getting any younger and maybe we should see if we can get something for him before he retires. Also I miss Butlard running the bases always makes me laugh!

Is "Belly Butlard" supposed to be funny?
If so, you missed bigtime.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

He's not THAT fat
And your attempt at humor failed dismally. But at least you are having fun ridiculing him.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
Please tell me
This is the same guy that posts as “Mike Stinkey” over at Royals Scout!

I would've thought it was
hilarious in third grade.
You know what? I lied. I was an incredibly mature third grader.
Well anyway, I like his sig.
A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.
The sig should have been his screen name
So far, he’s 1 for 2.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
How can I be a Royals fan
and be .500. Thanks alot now I have to change my sig.

Hopefully you'll keep the ridicule of one of the Royals best young players to a minimum
How old are you anyway?
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
I personally love the sig
That is about as true as it gets.

I would be nice if they both could start swingin the stick
