Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

with nothing to do on an off day...

looking at minor league results to see blake johnson's not-so-good start for AA NW-Arkansas

6.0ip  7hits 4r 4er  3bbs  3ks 4.29era

but it reminded me of one of Moore's first trades

As quoted from our boy Will

"Wow. Just a completely random move from the Royals, as Dayton Moore grabs a former Brave in the 29 year old Perez (4-4, 6.83 ERA).

Royals Get: Odalis Perez, Blake Johnson and Julio Pimentel

Dodgers Get: Elmer Dessens"

Looking back now it seems like Moore got the best of this trade.

Johnson and Pimentel have potential and Perez...although scary at times was at least serviceable. Dessens is now with the Pirates. Perez is the Nat's "ace" and we have two prospects.

i was no fan of odie

but i will give dayton for a creative trade

eating Odie’s salary, or some of it, isn’t a bad idea as a way of getting more value

almost like a reverse salary dump

Yes

We got a nice dowry for our brief marriage to that schlub.

A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.

That was a tremendous trade

The Royals gave up a mediocre aged reliever for two pretty good prospects and Odie. This is another example of Moore’s FO doing a good job of finding under-appreciated prospects.

This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Odie

was worth a chance for a turnaround, longshot though it was. The two prospects were the real steal of the deal. I wonder if he would take on a similar trade to take on a struggling 1B like Sexson or Hafner? It might be a buy low opportunity, but both guys really look done right now.

The thing that surprises me is how well Todd Wellemeyer is pitching, apparently he found some control in STL. He was one guy I never figured would pan out.
