Wladimir Balentien
I just thought I'd give an update on everybody's favorite "I don't know if Moore could have gotten him for Dote, but I sure wish he would have" player. After a warm start, Wlad really cooled off. HIs MLB stats this year are:
.196/.265/.346 in 107 AB's for an OPS+ of 67
By comparison, the no longer mediocre Emil Brown is hitting
.242/.280/.364 in 231 AB's for an OPS+ of 79
What brought Wlad to my attention was that I saw in a recent transaction that the Mariners had sent him back down to the minors.

Wow, I Hadn't
Heard that. He was their “El Salvador”; they released Wilkerson and handed him the job the day they called him up. Clement has been a disaster, too. He was called up the same day as Belentien, and proceeded to lay this egg: .167 .286 .250. This team is more screwed by the minute.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

To be fair
I thought that Balentien was always somewhat questionable—great power, but with patience/contact questions.
Clement, while he didn’t impress, to say the least, wasn’t given much of a chance (do they really think that Vidro is so much better that he should be blocking Clement? I guess that’s why Bavasi is sitting on his counch in his underwear eating salami at the moment…). He could still turn out to hitin the majors, which might be valuable depending where he ends up positionally, as far as I know (which isn’t much, as usual).
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

Hehehehe...
Thanks for pointing this out. Somehow, I missed this as well. ;)
Perhaps he will fair better his next time around with the big club.
I really don't know what to say... Did the post above this signature make sense? Probably not.

He probably will
But not everyone thought he was a great prospect. Kevin Goldstein at Baseball Prospectus I think gave him only 3 out of 5 stars. More than a few people don’t see tremendous upside there.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
