Another good outing
His overall numbers have become quite good. The only problem is the walks.
3.58 ERA, 10 GS, 50.1 IP, 44 H, 22 R, 20 ER, 5 HR, 21 BB, 53 K
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

yep
That said, this is exactly what he did last year. He walked too many the first couple months, then really settled down and dominated later. Maybe he’s just coming into his own sooner this time around.

I love the fact that the only problem he's had in adjusting to AA is some control issues
...and his control is gradually improving. Hopefully he keeps the walks down for the remainder of the season and then he can go to Omaha in 2009. With Rosa called up, all of the sudden Omaha is out of pitching prospects.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

With Omaha's lack of pitching
Cortes might get called up in September sometime.
Billy at worst will be Sean Casey jr.
Maybe, but I don't think they'd rush him for the sake of improving AAA pitching
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

What if Omaha is in a pennant race?

Is that a serious question? (and I don't mean my question to be snarky)

It wouldn't be to improve AAA pitching
it would be to see how he can fair at that level. Omaha player personnel had said Rosa would get a look in KC in Sept but due to his early call up it would make sense for Cortes to get a look in Omaha. That way it gives them a good idea where to start him next year.
Billy at worst will be Sean Casey jr.
I think it would be rushing him
When you said “with Omaha’s lack of pitching,” I interpreted that to mean that Omaha’s poor pitching would be the cause of him getting called up. But I guess you meant that nobody’s blocking him, which is true. But I think this would be rushing him. He’s only 21 and this is his first AA season. I might be in favor of calling him up at some point this season if he had no remaining issues at AA and he were completely dominating (like Rosa was). But he does still have control issues which are leading to a lot of walks. So I’d let him complete the season in AA.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

AAA
I could see it if Cortes is just filthy dominant for like four or five straight starts…but otherwise not likely.

He needs to be pitching regularly somewhere...anywhere
The only bright side is that he’s working everyday with McClure.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Which is good,
I hope. But really, let’s PLEASE not Huber-ize Rosa. And don’t yell at me, I’m not saying Huber is worth the same as Rosa is, I’m wondering why the dude is up here in the majors if we’re not going to get him some innings.
A mind without purpose will walk in dark places.
I don't think they'll Huber-ize him
I just think they don’t want to force him into high-leverage situations yet, which is a good idea. However, I think it would be better for him to be starting every fifth day in Omaha.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

That's pretty much what I had in mind,
as it’s pretty hard to justify him being on the roster right now.

Maybe
they’re trying to keep his IP low, since he’s still not that far removed from TJ. It’s not the worst thing in the world to limit the mileage on a young, talented arm.

If that was really what the Royals were after
then they probably could’ve found a way to do that without starting his big league service time clock.
I’m in agreement with NYRoyal on this one—it is great that Rosa is getting to work with McClure every day, but I’d rather see him starting every fifth day instead.
If they stop having 1-run games, they can actually start pitching him in real MLB games
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I don't think that's as huge an issue
as it’s made out to be on message boards.
Rosa is basically MLB ready right now – why not use him now, albeit in a minor role, rather than keep him in Omaha? Give him a taste of the majors as a reliever so he can be ready to rock as a member of the rotation next year.

The Royals haven't had a low-pressure situation lately
Two of the wins in STL were by one run, and the third was a one-run game until the 9th inning. The day Rosa was called up, the Royals won by one and the next day they lost in 10 innings in Phoenix by one run.
yeah, I don't think I'd put him into save situations yet
Unless the bullpen gets really gassed.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

I’m not saying Huber is worth the same as Rosa is
You wouldn’t dare! Rosa should hope to attain Huberization for a brief moment in the future, if he can.
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

Great News!
That is great news.
Only one walk tonight! What has done in his other recent starts?
I don't fight extra players.
And a good outing from Cegarra

Why hasn't the Grind returned to MTV yet?
They seem willing to keep trotting the Real World out there, but the Grind was a classic show to see hotties in a lot of spandex.
Good to see Cortes throw a gem
considering he is the Great Lefty Hope.
Hopefully Cegerra can make this a trend in High A and we’ll see him in Double A for the last few weeks of the Naturals season.
Except
Cortes isn’t a lefty.
