Jason Smith Update
Jason is out-slugging Costa in Omaha: hitting .270/.315/.544, with 17 homers. I know his glove is bad, but it amazes me that the Dodgers picked Berroa over him.

It amazes me that of all of the not very good journeymen minor league SS's who could have been had cheap that the Dodgers picked Berroa
...and with predictable results.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
ned colletti everyone
but at least he isnt Google Boy
Berroa is hitting .200/.280/.222, with what I assume is subpar D
He's drawing walks!
And yet he’s still even worse so far this year in the majors than in his worst year with the Royals.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

He wasn't just lazy afterall
He truly is as bad as he played. It makes you wonder how he fooled everyone for his rookie year. Sadly, he’s a cautionary tale for every other “lightening in a bottle” player that we get excited about.
I can't possibly think of a current example of that on the Royals! Hmmmm
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG

Don't think like that.
Don’t, really. No good can come of it.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Rany's wrong about Teahen.
I think the quest for his inner-McFarlane (i.e. pull everything) has been the biggest reason for his bad hitting last year and early this. In 2006, he was driving the ball gap to gap and still hitting HRs. Last year, everything was pulled and mostly on the ground. He and Gload like to play pepper with the 1B 3-4 times a game.
Especially at Kaufman, everyone should be using the whole field and damn where the fences are.
I'd don't think he's been trying to pull everything
I think his spray chart shows that he’s been hitting the ball to all fields. I think the problem is that he’s content being a line drive hitter and he’s not trying to lift and pull balls enough. He got HR’s in 2006 by hitting more balls in the air and pulling the ball more. (An article in BP where they analyzed all of his batted ball data from 2006 and 2007 showed this pretty clearly).
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

![Fresh on the heels of my award-winning 2008 Royals O-Swing Percentage Graph, here is a graph the O-Swing (percentage of pitches swung at outside of the strike zone) for all the teams of the AL Central from 2005-2008 by year, also compared to the MLB average. Remember -- this is for hitters, so lower is better.
(Maybe I [or someone else, of course] will do something like this for pitchers next week).
The results speak for themselvs, I guess, but they are saying all sorts of things. Discuss and enjoy!
