Game 61 Open Thread - Royals (23-37) at Yankees (30-30)

Kansas City Royals at New York Yankees, Jun 6, 2008 7:05 PM EDT

Former Brave Kyle Davies (6.16 career ERA) takes on Darrell Rasner (3.59 career ERA)  tonight at Yankee Stadium.

Being a .500 team is gone and it's not coming back.

(Curious about later draft picks? Check the post below.)

".500 team not coming back"

Now, now, there’s plenty of interleague play to mend our wounds. Things may look considerably better by the end of June.

by Porcus on Jun 6, 2008 6:12 PM EDT reply actions

Would like to believe .500 is attainable

But I doubt it. Our offense has not even approached a level of sufficiency where .500 is a realistic finish.

Our pitching is good to very good at times, but we can’t score enough runs to turn that positive into an ultimate plus – more wins.

True. Blue. Third Place in 2008.

I'm going to the Saturday, Sunday and Monday games

I refuse to go to a game where the temp is not over 90. Thankfully, while the temp hasn’t been over 82 in NYC yet, it will be at or above 92 for the Sat, Sun and Mon games. Fun!

Roughly

How many other Royals fans do you run into at the games?

by I need more Esteban on Jun 6, 2008 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

That's really hard to say. I always see many Royals hats, shirts and jerseys.

I have no idea how to estimate how many it is. A few hundred? A thousand? More?

Good to hear there is some support

you should wear something specific so we know it’s you when they undoubtedly show a Royals fan at the game. Then you will have a TV appearance to go along with your radio showing on 810.

Look for a black Royals hat with a blue bill

And a white, midwestern looking guy wearing it. I’ll be in the lower level down the RF line past first base, not too close to the field.

Much as I love seeing the Royals play

I refuse to pay the price for seats at Yankee Stadium. The last Royals game I saw there was, an early Runelvys game, which research reveals to have been August 6, 2002.

I’ll be seeing them at the K on the 25th, against the Rockies, who I’m pleasantly surprised to see are having a worse year than we are.

Then again, I haven’t been paying attention like I should. Announcers said Teahen has 6 HR, and I was thinking: “How did he get that many? Last I knew, he was around 2 or 3.”

I don't think there's a Christianity = peace truism

My dad’s a preacher, but when I was a kid, any time someone picked on me, he was always the one who told me to “just pop ‘em in the nose” if they did that again.

Well, there is a Christianity = peace truism in the Bible, but not a ton of people act on it.

I had that at my ready.

you have to realize: I followed up on my mom’s advice every time (don’t get into fights). But while there is a “turn the other cheek” passage, there’s likewise not a “allow yourself to be trampled by everyone else” passage, either. It’s pacifism with a purpose rather than mere passivity.

Home runs are fascist.

Guillen choose to hit the GRD to give his teammates the chance to participate in the run scoring. That’s nice of him to look after his babies.
