Former Brave Kyle Davies (6.16 career ERA) takes on Darrell Rasner (3.59 career ERA) tonight at Yankee Stadium.
Being a .500 team is gone and it's not coming back.

".500 team not coming back"
Now, now, there’s plenty of interleague play to mend our wounds. Things may look considerably better by the end of June.

The reports of this team's demise come 17 times a day
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Would like to believe .500 is attainable
But I doubt it. Our offense has not even approached a level of sufficiency where .500 is a realistic finish.
Our pitching is good to very good at times, but we can’t score enough runs to turn that positive into an ultimate plus – more wins.
True. Blue. Third Place in 2008.

I'm going to the Saturday, Sunday and Monday games
I refuse to go to a game where the temp is not over 90. Thankfully, while the temp hasn’t been over 82 in NYC yet, it will be at or above 92 for the Sat, Sun and Mon games. Fun!

That's really hard to say. I always see many Royals hats, shirts and jerseys.

And a white, midwestern looking guy wearing it. I’ll be in the lower level down the RF line past first base, not too close to the field.

Much as I love seeing the Royals play
I refuse to pay the price for seats at Yankee Stadium. The last Royals game I saw there was, an early Runelvys game, which research reveals to have been August 6, 2002.
I’ll be seeing them at the K on the 25th, against the Rockies, who I’m pleasantly surprised to see are having a worse year than we are.

Maybe it's because
I attended Kyle Davies’ first game (against the Yankees, last year), but when I saw he was starting, I said, “Oh, crap.”
Then again, I haven’t been paying attention like I should. Announcers said Teahen has 6 HR, and I was thinking: “How did he get that many? Last I knew, he was around 2 or 3.”

I don't think there's a Christianity = peace truism
My dad’s a preacher, but when I was a kid, any time someone picked on me, he was always the one who told me to “just pop ‘em in the nose” if they did that again.

Well, there is a Christianity = peace truism in the Bible, but not a ton of people act on it.
Not to impugn your Dad, but I never saw how “turn the other cheek” translated into “be sure to retaliate to any physical abuse.”
by Eppenweb on Jun 6, 2008 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I had that at my ready.
you have to realize: I followed up on my mom’s advice every time (don’t get into fights). But while there is a “turn the other cheek” passage, there’s likewise not a “allow yourself to be trampled by everyone else” passage, either. It’s pacifism with a purpose rather than mere passivity.
by powderbluepower on Jun 6, 2008 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Of course, the trick is how to interpret when your "purpose" is just or not.

The A's have a guy in their system named Hiram Bocachica
Bocachica, loosely translated, means “Girl mouth.” So you better believe when he came to Omaha last year one Thirsty Thursday, the entire crowd was chanting “GIRL-MOUTH. GIRL-MOUTH.”
All three of us :(

Could have used a few less hits, a few more Ks.
But the lack of walks is exciting.

Mahay is definitely becoming the new Riske.

Good comparison
Riske took a while to get warmed up last year, too.

To extend it:
Ramirez = Greinke
Yabuta = Bale
And most of the other players are in the same roles, ie Peralta, Nunez, Gobble.

Sticking with Mahay
I’m just going to say right now before anything happens that I like this move.
