KC, Here I Come!
So I've been away for awhile and I have really missed a lot in the past couple weeks, a lot of losing, but still a lot. And what do I have to show for it? Well....a new job that will require me to move to KC and now a fiancee. Yep, another one takes the plunge!
I've got a ridiculously busy next few weeks with 2 weddings to attend and the move, but hopefully I'll get to catch up on RR soon. Keep up the good work everyone, and hopefully the boys can turn things around!

I'm going to guess that the color scheme at NYC city hall is a darkish oaken brown and off white
I did the big wedding with color schemes, tuxedos and a bazillion flowers the first time. This time, thankfully, she doesn’t want that. We decided to invest our money in the engagement ring, wedding bands, a nice, small pseudo-reception and honeymoon.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Choreographing the re-enactment of the "Thriller" video for your wife
Is fun.

Congrats
Looks like many of us are getting married. Hope you enjoy it, and I hope you enjoy KC too.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
Does getting married
mean less RR time? NOOOOOO
by I need more Esteban on Jun 10, 2008 10:16 AM EDT reply actions
I hope not
Actually, my new job is a work from home gig and I will travel about 30-40% of the time. So it should be easy enough to get my RR time in.
Guess I'll have to change my name now...damn

Not if you marry the right woman

She's been accepting of it so far....
hope that doesn’t change.

BTW
How long did it take for your fiancee to stop making a big deal about being engaged?
Guess I'll have to change my name now...damn
I'll answer
I don’t know if that question as for me, but I’ll answer. I think it took about a month. And then when it got to two months before the wedding, she started saying every week, “We’re getting married in X weeks!!!!!111.” Mostly it’s cute. But I’ll be glad when the countdown is over.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Well...
It has been 5 days now and she still prances around smiling and waving her hand through the air and telling me to look at her ring all the time. I bought the DAMN ring, I know what it looks like. I also know what it costs so I guess I should be happy that she is excited.
Guess I'll have to change my name now...damn

Ah yes, the ring
There was about a month of. “Look at the ring! Look how it glitters in this light!” That hasn’t completely gone away, by the way, but the frequency has decreased. I think there’s a saying about diamonds and girls and friends.
But yes, we should be happy that they are excited about the rings. If I spent this much money and she wasn’t in love with the ring, I’d be pissed.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

Perhaps there is a metric for this?
Can brides-to-be have “grit”? And how is that normalized for age, family background, previous relationship experiences, and so forth?
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG
by Matt Klaassen on Jun 11, 2008 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Bride grit would be...
“Let’s not have a big wedding. Let’s just go to city hall right now. And I don’t need a diamond ring. We’ll go get a cubic zirconia for $50 and nobody will know the difference. And, I think we should go to Burlinton, IA, Wilmington, NC, Springdale, AR, and Omaha, NE for our honeymoon.”
That is off the charts grit.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
by Scott McKinney on Jun 11, 2008 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions
damn, that sounds so appealing
my girl don’t have that kind of “grit”
Guess I'll have to change my name now...damn
by MileHighKCfan on Jun 11, 2008 4:46 PM EDT up reply actions
No one does
That is maximum bride grit and it just doesn’t exist. It’s like a 4.000 SLG. It is mathematically possible, but it isn’t going to happen.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
by Scott McKinney on Jun 11, 2008 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions
Is there a "good face" for a bride that is conceptual separable from being attractive?
Or is “grit” something that can’t be scouted?
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG
by Matt Klaassen on Jun 11, 2008 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions
I don't know if you can scout bride grit
It is mostly just a performance thing. Although I think you can perhaps identify some skills which can help you project a gritty bride. Does she let you watch Royals games whenever you want? Does she like/want/need/require expensive things? There are some early indicators….but when we’re talking about a wedding, nothing is guaranteed.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

haha bride grit
you guys crack me up.

I don't see what is so funny
Humor is an emotional overreaction. We’re just trying to get an advantage over other teams, fan bases, and dudes by singling out market inefficiencies.
OMG Banny. FWIW I am only crdtng u w/3 runs allwd bc of DDJ OMFG
by Matt Klaassen on Jun 12, 2008 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions
Just give him regular playing time and I'm sure he could get his SLG back up to 4.000 this year
And don’t bother me with talk of how this is mathematically impossible. We’re talking about Justin Huber.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.
by Scott McKinney on Jun 12, 2008 12:09 AM EDT up reply actions
It's ok to have warm fuzzy feelings for Huber in your swimsuit area
Don’t deny it. Go with it. Just do whatever feels right.
This is just my opinion. I could easily be wrong.

You know, you aren't locked in yet
Maybe he needs a green card! He is in California…
This is really shaping up nicely for you.
