The perfect example of a player blocked from a starting job just became unavailable, as Matt Murton of the Cubs just went to Oakland in the Rich Harden trade. There are others out there, including our previous suggestion of the Padres' Justin Huber. Huber's back with Triple-A Portland because there simply isn't room on the ML roster. He hit .246/.303/.393 with 2 HRs in 67 PAs for San Diego this season, but that includes hitting .250/.313/.432 with 2 HRs in 49 PAs away from Petco Park (a notorious pitcher's park). We're dealing with small sample sizes here, but a larger sample size away from Petco may be what the doctor ordered for Huber, who plays the corner outfield spots, first base, and could serve as an emergency catcher.

Huber = Our Carlos Quentin
I don’t know that posting a .745 outside of Petco is any recipe for success. But, when the alternative is Gloady…

These are
The kind of players I hope Dayton pursues this winter. Young guys that have exhibited some talent, but are blocked in their organization.

I swear
Huber could be a useful bench player.

RR bringing up Huber -- deliberately baiting NY Royal.... NYBait
About as obviously as brining up Gary Sheffield or consistency in a Joe Morgan chat. I can’t believe NY has resisted this long.

Me neither
I love debating Huber’s considerable merits.

It would take less time if we just focused on his one or two problems
